OY, I have never in my life seen a website that goes down as much as this one. Every night (I'm a nightowl) it goes down, for hours at a stretch. It REALLY sucks when you're trying to to catalog stuff into Cart Commander and you click on the next game and POW, the site is down. Anybody here know why this is? Are they updating or something? It's probably the most reliable rarity guide online right now.

In my experience, that's how Digital Press has always been. It's annoying, and that's one of the main reasons I don't visit the site very much. I go there to get a value on this game or that, and that's about it.

Well, for the first time EVER, I'm getting around to logging my stuff, and with Cart Commander, I sorta like to have as much info on each game as possible. Digitpress is great for stuff like that...when it works. Lol.

There's already a "DP is down yet AGAIN?" thread already in progress:

Ya, DP has been fading fast over the past two years. Not only is it down like 25% of the time, but since Joe has all but quit the website, the Nazi mods there are out of control. It's the most unplesant forum on the web anymore, which is too bad, because there's a lot of awesome people there.

After it got bad I used to only go there for eBay stuff and buy/sell/trade, but since there are so few active posters there now it's not even worth it for that.

Honestly, I don't think the point when DP just doesn't come back online is that far in the future.

Well, I hope someone at least copies all the info on the site down and makes a new website, cause DP is pretty reliable when it comes to rarity (not so much on how much said rarity level is worth, mind you). I've never posted in their forums, though, and don't plan on it.

It collapsed under the weight of all my alt accounts. Just when I was curious how anyone in the world can listen to Iron Maiden. Damn. Now I have to spend time with my children.

I hope the server just needs to be rebooted and it's not something more serious like a hack attempt.

I was getting worried too, site was down a long time this time. I really like digitpress's forums though. It is how I heard about atariage as well.

Yeah, DP has been down now for a couple of days. You don't realize how much you miss the 10-15 minutes you spend looking over the Finds and For Sale threads until they're gone! I feel like I'm going through withdrawals!

As long as I can recall being a member over there, they've always had random server issues. As mentioned above I generally go there for the "finds" threads and that's about it so its not a HUGE loss to me but it is a part of my daily surfing.

Having been with them for years I am pretty use to it but man this one does seem to be taking a while. Perhaps they should change the site name to:

The Retrogaming Roundtable forums are unavailable while we diagnose software issues.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

While on the subject of digitpress, I have a bone to pick with them. I wish they would please update their rarity list or at the very least, remove the prices they have.

I mentioned in the finds thread that the local retro game store got in a lot of 150 Atari games last week and even though I've suspected it, I had confirmation while I was there - this store uses the prices in the rarity guide. I saw him look up bumper bash and proudly hold it up and declare "Its worth $90". I peeked over his shoulder and sure enough, he's using the many years old online digitpress rarity guide which has a $90 price for a loose bumper bash.

Guess how much this guy priced his loose Mr. Do's Castle? :ponder:

I try to get him to check out atari2600.com but he loves digitpress. The thought of completed auctions doesn't seem to appeal to him anyway.

Damn digitpress, I HATE YOU :P
