That is totally the opposite reaction I had when I play this game. It's a friggin struggle for me to stay interested.. I don't know if it's because I'm so tired of FPS's or what, but this game is a huge ass bore. I'm still trying to play it though.... killed a number of Big Brothers, etc. But really, I dont know why everyone digs this game. To me it's just more bullshit

I love the background story and the atmosphere/environment of this game. But I restarted the game about 2/3rd of the way through on Hard and now I am bored to tears. LOL, I am experiencing both awesomeness and boredom.

can i ask a question to anybody who says they are sick of all the FPS, what is the difference between a FPS and 3rd person shooter other than the vantage point of the player??? You never hear...I'm sick of all the 3rd person action games, or all the 3rd person shooting games, but bitch and moan about FPS, so if the camera was behind the player it would be ok?? Give me a break.

I downloaded the demo version. Installed it, copied over the dbghelp.dll & xinput1_3.dll files as needed by Win2k. And the bioshock.exe just created a general non specificed error and crashes out.

I know my machine (AMD 1.3ghz Athlon, GF4 MX440 video card w/128megs, 1gig ram) doesn't meet the requirements, but remember in the old days when minimum requirements were just a suggestion, and anything ran on anything (just poorly). Whatever happened to those days?

For that matter, why the hell can't installers freaking check to see if your system is compatable BEFORE installing? Would have saved me a lot of time installing for nothing then uninstalling.

I'll be honest I love PC gaming, but it is a far greater hassle than console gaming. But when you get it right, it can't be beat. And for the last five years or so, I've used the "double the minumum requirements stated on the box to get the game to run right" rule of thumb.

I did get the Xbox 360 version though. My kids have been dominating both PC's lately. I'll start on it this weekend.

Just became aware of this game. Is it worth picking up for the PC?

I love FPSs. My fav has been FEAR, which I finished, which is rare for me. I liked Far Cry most next, but never finished it. Doom3 was OK, but I lost interest in it.

I wonder how Bioshock would run on my rig - XP, Athlon 64X2 4200, Nvidia GeForce 7900GS, 2 gig RAM, 300 gig HD.

PC is the only way I could play this.

You're definitely past the 'minimum' spec but not quite at the 'recommended' I'd say that it should run pretty well at lower settings though. Check out the Bioshock demo and you can be sure. It's big though, like 1.9GB big.

I have no problems saying with 100% certainty that Bioshock is currently the definitive and best Single Player FPS experience you can get.

Any idea what kind of performance/settings I can get out of this game on my system? I've been running FEAR, Far Cry, Doom 3 and Call of Duty 2 pretty high or maxed out at 1280x1024, which is my monitor's native resolution.

Just a few months old... (the thread that is) but I had to throw in some kind words.

I have not beat the game yet. I have a feeling that I'm close to the end, but that could be a false feeling. Either way... thus far it is some of the best fun I have had in videogaming in a while. I really enjoy my Call of Duty 4 online, and I enjoy a lot of my other games. But I have to say that BioShock has shocked me many many times. Right now I'm walking around... and I simply can't believe what is going on. It is ironic as hell. Why do children grow so slow... lol

All I know is the graphics and the story are tops. They are some of the best I've seen in videogames. The controls are okay... I think some of it is simply just getting used to the xbox 360 controller.

All in all... this is a 10 in my books. The whole timeframe the game is set in is great! It is a must have. I can already see me playing this game again a second time. I want to try something different, although I think it would be very hard.

Great game! I was surprised a bit by the ending... there could have been... more.
Either way... this was a great game. I really really want to play it again... but I'm going to wait a little bit.

I finally beat the game last week sometime. I whole heartedly agree, this is one of the best FPS of all time.
I will eventually go back through it on the hard setting....although I'm not looking forward to fighting the big boss when I do.

It's not that hard really. I just beat the game with Vita Chambers turned off on hard for the achievement. As long as you sidestep his attacks I found the final boss to be about the same difficulty medium or hard.

Curious about this as well. You can still save at any point... so you could just get the achievement... right? I do remember using that damned vita chamber a few times just to beat a Big Daddy. I recall one area where I had NOTHING. No ammo or cash. But there was Big Daddy there so I beat that sucker with my wrench. I was revived quite a bit with the vita chamber... but it worked.

Sorry it took so long to reply, I forgot about this thread. Ok, right after you start a game, when you land in the water, press start and go into the options menu, there will be an option at the bottom to turn vita-chambers on/off. If you play the game all the way through like this you get an achievement. Just remember to save alot, especially before fighting Big Daddy's. If you die you start where you last saved.

This was an option added with the last update to the game, the one that gave the new plasmid and new tonics.
