Game Info

Coin-op originally released by Nintendo in 1982; ported to the NES by Nintendo and released in the US in 1986.

Other platforms: Atari 8-bit, Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Commodore 64, ColecoVision, Intellivision, Odyssey 2, TI-99/4A

Related games/sequels: Not very many, interestingly. Popeye and the Quest for the Woolly Mammoth (Windows - 1997) and Popeye: Rush for Spinach (GBA - 2005)

Tips

Quote

You get more points for collecting hearts on higher platforms, and your scoring doubles when you have spinach. Extra man at 50,000.
There's a bonus gimmick on each stage which will get you bonus points of 500 or 1000. I found that punching the crow on the pirate ship is pretty easy.

The game doesn't get any harder after level 10, however it is hard to pull off a feat due to the fact there is no pattern at all.

Bluto AI is amazing and will find a way to get ya
