Downloaded both the overview and tutorial for the upcoming PS3 game "Eye of Judgement" and I'm sort of split 50/50 on whether I might get it or not. On the one hand, the game looks extremely interesting with its use of the Eye and online play. On the other hand, the game looks like it might turn into another wallet-emptying, booster card buying "Magic" clone.

Because the game ships with the Eye and playing cards, I doubt if this game will be available for rental anywhere. So it comes down to whether or not a person is interested enough in trading card games to fork over $70 for EoJ. Right now I'm on the fence....

Anyone taken a look at the video's and if so, any opinions on whether you might invest in the game or not?

NOTE: one of the first things that pop'd into my mind while watching the video's was remembering my days of playing Quest for the Rings on my Odyssey! :P

To answer your question, I don't really get the appeal.

Resembling Quest for the Rings = good! :)
Though all the board game stuff could easily been done onscreen with the processing power of the following generation. It's a shame no one ever made an NES version.

Fiddly plastic peripheral crap = silly. :P
R.O.B., light guns, EyeToy, XBox Vision, Guitar Hero, e-Reader ... I already resent the clutter of the Wii's Classic Controller, but this thing looks 100x more annoying.

I suppose rabid Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh fans would feel differently.

On one hand, I can see the appeal. What CCG or miniature gamer hasn't wanted to see their cards or minis come to life?

On the other hand, the hand holding the wallet, its gimmicky and ultimately pointless.
