Right now, Walmart is running a heck of a deal on PS3's. You get:

60gb PS3 (full BC compatibility)
Free Blu-ray Remote
Free PS3 Game (choose from NBA 08, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Warhawk, Resistance: Fall of Man, Motorstorm, Formula 1 Championship Edition)
5 Blu-ray Movies
Price: $499.82

Deal is good online or in store.

Here's a LINK to the offer.

I am really torn if I want to return my Costco bundle for this instead. I'm not in love with motorstorm.

Appreciate the link!

Is this deal along with the deal with the 5 Blueray movies still going on? I'd buy one now that I have some cash if it is....

That is a good deal, similar to the Amazon bundle that got me to shell out a few months ago.

Yes, the 5 free disc offer is still going on, but it takes forever to ship them. http://bluraysavings.com/ is the link for that.

The Costco bundle is the 80GB machine without full backwards compatibility, at more or less retail price. Their warranty is very very good, but for me, backwards compatibility is better!

I don't have the link at hand (maybe its just dell.com) but I read that Dell (yep, the computer Dell) is having a PS3 sale also. You get the new 40gb unit, a HDMI cable (which doesn't come with any PS3 package) and Rachett & Clank for $399.99.

Depending on how much you pay for a HDMI cable (around $8+shipping at Monoprice; $99 at Best Buy/Circuit City... what a ripoff!) and whether or not you want R&C, the Dell package will save you about $70.

Of course, now there's ye olde rumor that the 40gig PS3 has a 40% failure rate... Probably just 360 fanboys trying to sabotage Sony, right? :P

Yeah, I seem to recall Microsoft offering up similar retorts when the first wave of 360's started going bad. I wouldn't expect Sony to come out and admit, "Yeah, we've got a problem." They've got enough problems as it is to admit this one just yet. :P

Good to know - I'm planning to get a PS3 in December or January. Looks like the 5 free movie offer is good thru 1/31/08.
