Are there any light guns that aren't too hard to find for PC? I mean I'd think the GunCon 2 could work with a little modding or something since it is a USB and all, but I wanted to know if there are any other options?

From what I've heard, they need a system where they can tap into the VGA output so that they can work out the timing of the beam.

And AFAIK, they don't work with LCD monitors.

OK, so is there any alternative? I'd like to be able to enjoy Police Trainer and Eggventure on MAME the real way.

Yes... Act Labs Light Gun. I have an older model and it's works very well with Mame. Not for lcd monitors though.

One that does work with lcd is called lcd topgun. I've never tried it, but I hear it works well.

It would be cool to take some time and make an adaptor (or just rewire) that gun to work for the NES to use on new TV's.

I've got a (newer style) Act Labs gun for my CRT systems and the TopGun for my LCD systems, both are good guns but the Act Labs is the better.

I've found that CRT-based guns are faster to respond and more accurate then those for LCD, my Act Labs works really well even when the pace gets fast and furious in House of the Dead 2.

The TopGun can be pretty fiddly to get working properly but it is a cool gun to use with the recoil action.

There are gyroscopic "mice" that you can wave around in the air and move a mouse pointer with. You could mod one of those into a gun. The nice thing about this is that no mucking about with VGA sync is required and it will work with LCD monitors too.

Here is one vendor of such: http://www.gyration.com/

The best PC Light guns I found were Arcade Guns.

I set them up with MAME and other emulators. They work very well and they are made with actual arcade parts like Cherry brand swithes. And they seem well made and durable!

I've been using the Arcade Guns Light Guns for two months now and I really like them! They are extremely comfortable in my hands and the buttons are very responsive! The price is very resonable too. Check them out here. They have a sale right now this month on the dual Blue and Red gun kit.
