Hope you had fun stacking things, because Halloween is just around the corner... Yes, it's time for Ghosts 'n Goblins!

Post a score and let's get this thing rolling!

Please post any tips you may have - best tip gets 1 bonus point! Only scores for games played from the beginning will count! No continues! And do not use the level-select cheat. Start at level 1.

And if anyone has a link to the manual, please post it. Thanks, user42!

This week's competition ends next Thursday (November 1) morning at approximately 9:00 am PST. Yes, we are going long this week so as to include Halloween.

This week's scores:

32,500 Blackjack (+8 pts)
30,200 PressureCooker2600 (+6 pts)
19,000 LarcenTyler (+4 pts)
16,600 vdub_bobby (+2 pts)

Tips

Here's a 23-minute speedrun of Ghosts 'n Goblins, probably worth watching for some tips.

Well....my first try netted me 24,000.

Didn't even get past the first level.......this game is unbelievably brutal.

That's why I voted for it. ;)

Several attempts.....removed

EDIT: I just played a couple more times and I can only get to 32,500. And I made it farther than I did for my previous 39k. So, I either misread my score (might have been 29 instead of 39 or something weird happened with my game. To be fair I'm only going to count the 32,500.

So its... 32,500

30,200

This game is almost as brutal as being drawn & quartered.

19,000

One of the most infamously difficult games.

Those rock troll things in level 2 don't play fair. They keep blocking the ladders. I actually ran out of time once because of that.
Died at the little platform things in the river immediately after the house.

This game would be a lot easier if the controls were more responsive. It's fun though.

Well done, folks! Another Halloween conquered in the NES HSC. Hope you all had fun with this tough game; I tried a few times but couldn't beat my previous score. :|

Vdub..... please remove me from the #1 spot. I believe I was mistaken about my original score (I wrote about it above). The highest I can confirm scoring is 32,500. I don't want to cheat anybody.
