To add insult to injury, and then to pour a salt and lemon juice cocktail into said injury, the PS3 version of Orange Box has received the developmental shaft, according to a recent preview on 1UP. While the PC and 360 versions of the game were largely managed by Valve, the PS3 version was apparently the responsibility of a team at EA. This has led to a number of framerate hiccups and other technical issues which "at best merely hinder game play and at worst make the experience downright unplayable."

Gabe Newell, Valve's co-founder, has never been a huge fan of the PS3, calling the system "a waste of everybody's time." Let's hope that the issues facing Orange Box are just small oversights, and not the results of a software tycoon's maniacal personal vendetta. (We think it's the first one, for what it's worth.)

I heard F.E.A.R. had similar issues. AWESOME game on the 360....Sucky on the PS3. Doesn't make sense.

Old news that the PS3 port wasn't being handled internally and rather by EA.

Its already been delayed once, I'd guess if the problems aren't resolved it will be delayed until its been corrected.

I keep wondering if the PS3 is worth it as a 360 owner...I just can't think of a reason to get one, and this news doesn't help.

Oh, come on...

I can think of several reasons. Resistance/Motorstorm/Uncharted/Haze.....there are PS3 only excluses worth buying the system for. Uncharted is one of the best games i've ever played in my life.

I can't believe this clown Gabe Newell. He isn't even willing to try and learn how to dev for the PS3.... God, I really hate his company. From the annoying Steam shit to now this....

Yeah, but IMHO there are more good games available for the other platform...so I have no money or time left over for the PS3. Funny thing is, I really don't feel like I'm missing out on anything yet.

I feel the same way, but for Blu-ray it's tempting. Still, the 360 is more than enough for me, but the PS3 will be my next console purchase of this generation, i will have a PS3 before I stoop to the Wii.

EA is handling the port, so it was a safe guess it wouldn't be done well. I was really interested in the game until I found out EA was doing it. It went from a release day purchase to 'is it $10 yet?' :P
