Cartoon violence meets ragdoll physics meets Burnout, sounds like a winner. Is this worth 10 bucks? Why no demo?

I saw this game at a friend's house this last Saturday night. It seemed fun to me, but it would get old after a while. Apparently there is only one level and one character. You can buy an add on pack that adds a couple more Christmas themed characters.

Basically you launch the guy out of a slingshot and see how much you can hurt him. The more pain you inflict, the more points you get. The whole idea is rather repetitive so I got bored after 10 rounds or so. That doesn't mean it isn't a decent game for 10 bucks.

I bought it... but it does get a bit boring. Go buy Everyday Shooter instead.
I think the kiddos like it... but beyond that... not really sure why you'd spend a lot of time on it.

The game is really fun.... for about 30min to an hour. Then you begin to wonder "Is this all there is?"

There is quite a bit of humor in the one included playfield... just explore all the signs and buildings by using the movie option of the game. And its funny to see all the damage and chaos you can cause when you launch yourself or hear the cussing and swearing by the people you take down during your flight ("Watch out Granny!!). But with only one included playfield in the game, the humor and such quickly fades and you want something more. Oh, you can always try the other modes of the game, but I found Spank the Monkey and Mime Toss/Bowling are really only fun when people come over and you can play multiplayer.

My opinion but this game is going to depend on entirely on DLC's to keep it anywhere near interesting. They've added two additional characters that you can download at 99cents each but they bring nothing new to the game other than additional screams. I'll be interested to see when they release another playfield, how much it will cost, and how often future playfields will be released.

Its not the worst game in the world by any stretch of the imagination. Some people are really into it (just check out all the YouTube video's). But for myself, unless the developer supports the game on a regular basis with more and varied playfields, the game lost its appeal and became uninteresting pretty quickly.

I'd have to disagree on this. I would say go buy High Velocity Bowling instead. :)

A great interview with the Senior Producer of Pain, Travis Williams, can be found HERE. He talks about the development of Pain and what they plan for in the near future: maps, characters, modes , and more are coming!

My initial reaction to the game was "Is this all there is... is there nothing more?". But after finishing Rachet & Clank, I started playing this game and am really enjoying it at the moment. Can't wait for the Amusement Park to be released... the Tilt & Hurl ride???

Oh... and if you download any of the Pain Themes from the PS Store, you'll find they are filled with audio from the game: belches, farts, screams, voices, and more.

I still haven't snagged this game, but I want to. Last time I bought a game, It was a toss up between the bowling and Pain and I went with the bowling. I wish I had got Pain instead. Wii Sports has got bowling covered in my opinion. I do wish it had more realist characters, but it really captures the act of bowling well and it'll be hard to top. High Velocity Bowling definately doesn't top it in my book. Looks nice though. That said I'm a HUGE fan of Burnout Crash Courses, if I had known Pain was in any way similar I would have picked it over the bowling for sure. I think I'll snag it this week-end.

I'm still finding all kinds of new things in Pain everytime I play.

For example, someone told me that there is a Flying Saucer in the game and I didn't believe it as I'd never seen one. Then they told me to go into "Movie Mode" and look at store windows. Well what do ya know.... I looked in a window and there it was: a flying saucer that you could only see reflected in the windows!

I've been exploring more and more of the game... every nook & cranny.... and its AMAZING what you will find hidden all over this game! Lots of humor and jokes.
