I am stuck on level 6, I here there are tons of levels. It started off fun but is really nerve wrackling hard now!

Anyone ever beat it?

Of course people have beat it.

But I found the Official Gamer's Guide to be essential to figuring out how to complete the later levels. There are times (lots of them) when the game just flat-out cheats. It's definitely a product of the 90's era Euro-"F**K YOU" school of game design.

Level 8 is the one I never got past. I really, really want to see what comes after it, and if and when I do, I'm hoping that things won't be as difficult for a while. From experience in levels 1-7, the difficulty doesn't seem to get progressively harder, just some levels/phases are harder than others. So i hope to get past #8 someday and continue further on...I need to buy the game again first though.

I got stuck around level 6 as well I think. I have it on Gameboy Color as well and that one was a bit more easier. Although I got stuck there as well :-)

The lack of a mouse really is an issue. I don't think the designers compensated for that.

I usually just plug this one in to hear the opening music and start a game - as soon as I get stuck - (same place now for about 10 years), it's back into storage. :P

I think this could potentially make a great DS port...

:D gotta love the music! we need Cannon Fodder 2 on the Jaguar

its not that bad without a mouse once you get the hang of it.

Did any console version compensate for it? I've only ever played the Jaguar version. How about 3DO? 3DO has a mouse, but was it used for this game? Are the 3DO controls without a mouse any better? What other CONSOLE versions are there?

Amiga/CD32, Atari ST, Macintosh, PC, probably others on the computer end, and I don't count the CD32 since I think it's the same version as the Amiga, and can use an amiga mouse. Though if I'm wrong, please let me know.

I honestly haven't played any other console version, so I couldn't say for sure. I do have a pretty strong idea though that the Jag port would be very closely aligned with the other 68K computer versions available, and therefore most likely to suffer from a straight conversion without mouse support.

You'll have to use one turret on Phase two or three of level 8....so you are not far away from it ;-)

I have finished the back in 96. I was so pissed off with it as some of the level were so fucking hard (I did love the game) that I told myself I'm gonna play it every day till I finish it. Believe it or not took me about 30-40 days (3-4 hours per day) to finish it. I think there was like 48 or so levels.

Wow, I'll have to take this as a challenge! I haven't played too far into the game, maybe 4 levels or so. I definitely will try to beat this Level 8 of legend...

Ive been stuck for the past week, Mission 2, Phase 2, "A Nice Set of Bazookas"...I think I'm always within 2 or 3 kills of beating it...and then a single bazooka shot blows all my guys to smithereens, sometimes they seem to come from offscreeen even which seems kind of unfair :P
Anyone have any advice for beating this one? Love the game though, just getting a tad discouraged .
