OK, ThomSW, be good and go shut your mouth...

@Sheddy: Just watched both arcade and your versions of SH, and i must say that it's storming!

Can't wait to see final version. Also thanks to kjmann for recreating ingame soundtrack!

I think Sheddy is doing a great job and I'm anxious to see and play the final product. chris, your a damn genius. =)

I was proud to do the soundtrack for this. I'm always happy to do something for the 8-bit that's worth while.

We are all loosing our minds with this one, it is so great and so seemingly near completion. On knees pleading Sheddy please Please PLEASE...... please?

I have loved playing the individual levels and demo! This is better than most released games!

Space Harrier on the XE rules

Thanks! if it's any consolation, I'm losing my mind too about getting this done with.

This is a weird coincidence - I post an update on my site after almost a year, and this thread gets resurrected just a few hours before that.

The graphics and patterns take a while to do, but I'm doing my best to get things finished. Things should progress better soon as the graphics and patterns get reused a lot throughout the game.
:)

The TARDIS works great! ;)

whooshing and whirring,

Looking ahead I only caught what might be a notice on the side of a box,

Space Harrier 9 flippy disk installation set, works best with 8 megabit maxflash cart., minimum requirement of a 1 meg mio, Black Box, MyIDE, fast hard disk, or fast sio2 storage device, minimum 130XE, expanded ram disk beyond 128K suggested.

more whooshing and whirring noises.

wait no, I think the box said in collaboration with Atarimax a special edition....

echoing noises

The second image seemed the clearest in my mind and then it all floated like smoke into the ether...

there is no such thing as too much Atarimax SheddyShack SpaceHarrier or Doctor Who!

no point now, although the SRAM in it is nice. AtariMax 8Mbit seems pretty well suited though, as people can download games to it themselves. No other versions apart from cart are really viable due to how the game works.

I didn't recognize it by the 1st view of the latest video... Now I'm disappointed by this.
Please, Sheddy, no stereo in Space Harrier. It was hard enough to hear KJMANN's stuff in there, instead of your nice implementation. Ok, KJMANN did the job for the whole game, so it was "OK" in this case, and the game was running fine on a stock 130XE without some uncommon expansions. If CPU time is left, it would fit far more to have one Pokey with better bass sounds (small samples/fast tone manipulations) running, instead of stereo.

I always looked forward to a finished cartridge of your masterpiece. KJMANN's involement already was a cause for me, not to buy a copy of Tempest XTreem.
First time I thought it was some testing purpose, causing the usage of this music in your game...
If at least the bass tones would be corrected, and caused by your great effort with the game, I would oversee that KJMANN is somehow involved into it, getting another "bonus" he has not earned himself.
And, ofcourse, with the corrected bass tones the music would fit better to the rest of the game.

Well, it's your project. So it's up to you what you're doing with it.

Oh come on.
This is just a bullshit extension of your personal vendetta against kjmann.

I bet if the music was a stereo piece from anyone else, you'd not be complaining.

As for Tempest, looks like you won't be buying it either way, because if it wasn't for Sal's efforts, it probably would never have existed anyway.

Problably you are right. But it's not only in his faulty behaviour. It's how he uses the Pokey for making music. There are some really good styles done by XRAY, sTring, Samurai/TATGOO , Sack/COS ... even Miker did some good jobs with game tunes.
KJMANN's style is like "yeah, let's show how bad Pokey can sound"....

Additionally the "no so good" sounds now beeing played in stereo, making the nice digi voice playing at one channel only, reduces gaming qualities.
And, as I wrote above. If only the bass sound were played correctly, I'd just disregard KJMANN's missbehaves, because Sheddy does an outrageous job with the game. Actually, the music would fit better then, also.

Another example of a possible rendition with "standard" usage of Pokey.
No C or E gen is used and noise belongs to some "hihat" sounding.
Only an arpeggio between 64kHz and 1.79MHz is used for doing some enhancement and reverb on the main voice.
I think, for a game it is better to use some funny sounds though, if we cannot have real bass there...
