I bought it, but mainly because i love Ron Perlmans voice acting (Same reason i nearly subjected myself to Conan)
I played the Demo so i knew what faults i was letting myself in for, but i have the exact opposite problem to you, targeting things far away is fine, but then something is right up in your face, it's like the gun just doesnt want to hit them at all, and the bullets take every opportunity to swerve in whichever direction results in not hitting your opponent.
Combined with all the 'cool' screen shaking and being knocked the the floor during Dino fights and it's incredibly frustrating, not to mention boring, and sometimes pot luck to fight them. Pretty much the only option is to use the knife, and in a similar fashion to Gears of War, hope to god the other Dino stops biting you after you come out of the (BAD) animation otherwise you'll die.
The combat is a mess, and the visuals are nice, but theres something not quite right about them. Y'know, i dont know how to explain it, but they certainly look pretty, but in the same way, it all looks the same and if you spend too long focusing on the screen to aim at an enemy, you could swear the screen is just a mess of green/grey.
Overall, i think it's a big step up from Evolution and Rage Wars, but by no means is it a good addition to the series, especially with it's complete departure from anything story related including the Lost Land and it's inhabitants. In fact, the only thing it does keep is the Turok name being passed on to a native american indian, even then it seems somewhat of an afterthought.
And as for the crazy weapons in the familiar Turok style the developers promised, all we got was a Flamethrower and a flare launching Shotgun...
Someone hand me my Cerebral Bore, im'a teach these devs a thing or two.
