i liked the demo, but again, I am going to have to agree that this will be a bargain bin purchase later.
Make it a Bargin Bin - Fire Sale purchase only. And then give it careful, careful thought.
Though I posted earlier that I was enjoying the game, that enjoyment stopped last night. I am NOT that good a gamer.... I rarely game online because I get my butt handed to me majorly and feel that I'm just taking up server space. But even with all my game playing weaknesses, I was able to beat Turning Point in just about
FOUR hours! I was shocked when the game ended and I sat there watching the credits roll thinking "You got to be kidding me".
As I said previously, the graphic's, control, and AI didn't bother me or hinder my enjoyment. The lack of story, the ending, and shortness of the game did.
I highly recomend that if anyone is interested in playing the game that you rent it as its not worth $60 in any shape, manner or form. My reasons follow and contain
Major Spoilers below:
There are only three "Act's" (that's what the developers call them) to the game: New York, Washington, and London. Each is very short.
The premise of the game is interesting (Nazi's win WWII and invade the U.S. in 1953) but there is almost NO story within the game itself. A couple of short cut-scenes give a little info (such as the puppet president surrendering the U.S. to the Nazi's) but other than those scenes, the "story" of the game is simply Objectives you have to carry out, like "Assassinate the President" or "Destroy the Atom Bomb".
The game ending??? The most unbelieveable I have ever witnessed... you die stopping the deployment of the atom bomb (Act III), but the Nazi's are still in control of the U.S. No resolution to the invasion is offered.... guess we'll have to continue the fight in Turning Point 2 (shudders).
Production value is really low.
HERE IS THE ACTUAL ENDING OF THE GAME Notice how after the explosion that the game flashes back, for an instant, to the ticking bomb then goes to the credits? They couldn't even provide a smooth transition into the credits.
Online: two modes (Deathmatch - Team Deathmatch) and two maps. That's it. And I didn't play online because there was never anyone there when I tried.. maybe not enough people purchased the game yet, as the leaderboard showed 9 names on it.
Some of the game makes NO sense at all. As an example, I'm in a elevator going to another floor. Over my radio I'm told to carry out my objective but since the objective is heavily guarded, my best bet for success is stealth. The doors of the elevator open and I'm faced with a hallway filled with Nazi's firing at me! How can I use stealth when the game won't allow me to????
Sigh... what a waste of four hours.
