I'm thinking of getting an X-Box 360 and I have a few questions.
#1 - Is the "core" set-up still available (I don't have an HDTV yet)
#2 - Is the "core" set-up still $300, or has it been reduced?
#3 - I've read that the old X-Box 360s have issues regarding not working well. Are the newer X-Box 360s they're selling now better in this department, or is it still kind of flukey?

Xbox 360 console (without hard drive)

5 Arcade LIVE titles (included on disc): Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2, Boom Boom Rocket, Pac-Man Championship Edition, Uno

The newer 360 supposedly are more realiable due to modification in the design. I think the verdict is probably still out on it though. People have said the new ones run much cooler so that's a good thing. The 360 comes with a 1 year warranty that covers everything and a 3 year that covers the RRoD. I personally would spend the $30 a year and get an extended warranty if your worried about it. In spite of what people have said, I've personally delt with MS several times and have positive experiences each time. (and I can be an ass when I don't get my way)

Keep in mind with the CORE unit and the memory card, you wont be able to take full advantage of the MarketPlace. Just not enough space for movies, music, Live games and gamesaves on the HD. The cards are fine if you just plan on playing retail games though. The gamesaves alone don't take a whole lot of room. That is cool the COREs are coming with wireless controllers now. I didnt know that.

that's because it's not technically the core system, that sku they did away with. The core was really bare bones, I think Microsoft did a good thing by discontinuing it and replacing it with the Arcade version.

To me it's still a CORE system if it doesn't include the hard drive. The CORE systems were always able to use the wireless controllers...they just didn't include one in the package. You're right though they are including a lot more with the unit itself now.
