Take the hottest pseudo-3D brawler in the arcade and combine it with the most blatant TMNT rip-off of all time and what do you get? That's right, it's time for Battletoads & Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team!

Post a score and let's get this thing rolling!

Please post any tips you may have - best tip gets 1 bonus point. No continues - only games played from the beginning count!

And if anyone has a link to the manual, please post it.

This week's competition ends in two weeks on Tuesday (April 1st) at approximately noon PST.

Game Info

Mash-up sequel to both Battletoads and Double Dragon created by Rare for the NES in 1993.

Other platforms: Game Boy, SNES, Genesis.

Prequels/sequels/spinoffs: An odd mash-up of the Battletoads franchise and the more well-known Double Dragon franchise. Good stuff.

Tips

*UPDATE*

We will play this game for two weeks since I will have spotty access to the internet over the next week or so.

So we'll play this game until Tuesday, April 1st. :)

This is one of those annoying games that doesn't keep your score after the game ends.

I started getting clobbered so I took a screenshot before dying here, but as it turns out you don't really have to anticipate it. Just use a continue and your score will still be on the screen.
Don't let it go back to the title screen or your score will be forever forgotten.

Took me a couple tries to get that far. I'm sure somebody can do better, don't get beaten by a noob! :)

I don't love the collision detection in this game - it seems it's impossible to hit 2 enemies at once, and you can't throw them into each other either.

Still having internet access problems, or? :) I've been wanting to get back into the NES high score club but I don't like this game, so I've been waiting for the next one...

Sorry, been very busy; my wife just had a baby. ;)

I'll try to get a poll up today and next Monday or Tuesday we'll start the next game. :)

Congrats!

Can I still play Battletoads and submit a score then? Not a big fan, but I'll give it a go anyway...

Sure, you can submit a score until I get the next game up and running - which should hopefully :ponder: be tomorrow midday.

Not a popular game...:?

Anyway, it's a pretty fun game, but the gameplay is a lot shallower than I expected. There are lots of moves you can do, but you never really have many choices.

Well, I hope you all had fun playing!
