Back when I first got my Jaguar in 1995 or so I had Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure. As most people know, the original Pitfall is built into the new game. It can be reached by a code or by finding the old-fashioned scorpian and then going into that door. While in the classic game, there is a way to replace the head of Pitfall Harry with the head of various programmers of the game. There is a code to do this, and I've done it, but it has been MANY years. I've looked all over the web for the code, but I just find the typical code to get the the classic level. Does anyone know how to get the digital heads to appear?

While I'm asking, does anyone know what happens if you get all the Letter tiles in the game? I've beat the game before (again, many years ago), but there was a tile or two that I could never find. Heck, while I'm at it, are there maps of this game anyplace that show ALL the secrets? Are there any extras in the Jaguar version that are not in the PC, Genesis or SNES versions (or vice versa)?

I would like to know this too!

I have beaten the Jaguar version (only) before and I either don't recall anything about these letter tiles or I forgot about 'em.

I like the little looping trick you can do at one point in the Jag version where you can collect the full maxium amount (99) of Fire Rocks to help beat the two Jaguars you have to fight at once and the Myan end boss. I will look for this programmers head code too - sounds interesting. Please post it if you find it.

Not sure what you mean by "looping trick." The only way that I knew how to get the Magical Rocks (were they called Fire Rocks?) was to collect the little bags of them. Was there a special way to get them?

Bump.

I asked about this Pitfall code question about three years ago and since then I have still not seen the code for it (I still do look once in a while too). I also still have never heard mention of it. I suppose I MUST have read it in one of the amateur newsletters that I used to get at the time... but I don't have any of those anymore.

If you know the code or have at least SEEN or even just HEARD of this code in action, please say SOMETHING so I don't feel like I'm going crazy.

I didn't even know the original game was in it!!!

Whilst I loved the game I never beat it, I now am itching to play it some more :D I'd love to see the digi'heads thing too :)

Over the past few days I spoke via private messages with Scott Stilphen over at Digital Press. He maintains an Easter Egg list for Digital press for the various systems. He has never heard of an Easter Egg in "Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure" that will display the programmer's digital heads in the classic version of Pitfall! on the Jaguar version of the game. He added this note to the list Jaguar version of the Easter Egg list, "RUMOR: While in the original game, there’s a way to replace the head of Pitfall Harry with the head of various programmers of the game."

A direct link to his Jaguar Easter Egg List is here. It is rather empty. Anyone want to help him get more? When I used to regularly play my Jaguar I used to have cheats for Rayman (a really cool, but hard, Pong game is built into ONLY this version of the game), Iron Soldier, Doom and others.

Scott points out some other interesting links for "The Mayan Adventure." Not all of this links are directly relevant to the Atari Jaguar version, but these Easter Eggs confirm that putting hidden tricks into "The Mayan Adventure" was common on other platforms:

1) Programmer's Names - Describes how to pull up a list of the programmer's names in the PC version.
Programmer's Names Easter Egg in "Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure"

2) Cheats for the SNES version. These include: Begin on Level 6, Debug Mode, Infinate Ammo, Original Pitfall, State Select, and Unlimited Continues.
SNES Cheats for "Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure"

3) Collecting All the "Pitfall" - According to the last post in this thread, nothing happens. However, I bet something DOES happen but you have to figure it out. It sure would be a mean trick for the programmers to put the tiles in the game and then not have them do ANYTHING at all.
Collecting the Tiles in the PC Version of Pitfall

4) Looping Trick - Scott and I still haven't found any reference to the "looping trick" that is mentioned in a previous post in this thread. That would be extremely helpful. Could someone explain how this works?

Scott has this to say about these cheats, "I don't know if they're in any other versions, but it might be worth trying." I agree!

Just had quick mooch through the ROM image and the "atari 2600" and "david crane" get a mention. There is also a list of people that worked on the game including "our hamster"
