I'm in the process of downsizing my collection a bit. Over the last year I've sold off all my prototypes with the exception of my Atari 5200 and 8-bit protos. Unfortunately as my company is just announced that they are no longer going to pay for my rather expensive MBA classes, the time has come to let them go.

I have over 100 Atari 5200 prototypes ranging from released games to WIP versions of games to unreleased games. I also have several Atari 8-bit prototypes, many of which are of unreleased games. Most of the prototypes are complete with full lab loaner labels, but some are board only. I hate to let them go, but such is life.

I can make a list if people are interested.

I'll make a list when I get home tonight, but if you look in the 5200 section of my site you can pretty much see all the 5200 protos I have. :)

As for 8-bit protos I have:

Atari Graphics
Crystal Castles
Football
The Last Starfighter
Midi Maze
Super Cobra
Super Pac Man
Up n Down
Deflektor

And possibly one or two others. I'll have to check tonight

what are protos worth? Does it depend on what game? I know they're not cheap as they are rare items, but just wondered. Of course there's an interest, but then there's always the factor of money, and most of my gaming cash has gone toward restoring my MVS, but I'd still like to know what the costs are for protos.

It depends on the title honestly. There are several factors that affect the price:

Released vs Unreleased
Complete vs WIP
Case and Label vs Board Only
Desirability of the title
Rareness of the title

Unreleased games are obviously worth more than released games. Games with cases and labels are worth more than games that are board only. Work In Progress games are worth more than the final versions (except for unreleased games where the opposite is true). Some games that are just more desirable than others (such as Super Pac-Man or The Last Starfighter) tend to go for more. Also some prototypes are just plain rarer than other prototypes (such as AE or the Menu proto)

Released games can go anywhere from $50-$150 while unreleased games can run from $150-$400 or more. It all depends on the title.

I've had a few requests for pictures. Rather than take pictures of everything (which would take a very long time), you can simply go to my website (www.atariprotos.com) and look in the Atari 5200 or 8-bit section. Most of these prototypes are pictured there. I can take pictures of the few that aren't.

Just a quick note that I will be out of town for the next few days, so if I don't respond to your request that's why.

Free! Everyone grab a few! :D

Actually the price varies based on a lot of things: Released vs Unreleased, Lab Loaner vs EPROM Board, Rarity of the prototype, etc. Generally Unreleased games run from $250-$350 and Released games go from $75-$125. It all depends on the title.

Ok one more bump before they go up for auction.

A lot of people have been asking about prices, so I'm going to make it simple.

$250-$300 for unreleased games (depends on the title)
$75 for lab loaners
$50 for EPROM board only protos

How good is 5200 ball blazer compared to the A8 version...as i understand that apart from BBSB and a few other games most 5200 games where either 16k or 32k (whereas ballblazer on the A8 is 48k if memory recalls)

I'm not 100% sure. They look the same to me, but I'm not a Ballblazer fan so I haven't played it in-depth.

Stargate is now gone.
