Hi,

I have sold off most of my Jaguar collection and have decided to go ahead and sell my copy of Battlesphere Gold. I just posted it on eBay, here is the link if anyone is interested. Thanks

Hi!

http://cgi.ebay.com/...item=1375633394
Auction ended with "Buy it now" for a price of $230.

Isn't it nice that even in these days you can still make more than 40%
with a 2 month investment?

Cheers
Matthias

It was always $159.95 new. Not $175. But if suckers are going to spend that much on a used one on ePay, then perhaps I have a way to raise the cash for another batch without having to wait for enough orders. Hmmmm.

I only reserved it for exactly what I paid for it $160. I put a BuyItNow price for $230. If nobody would have used BuyItNow then it would have sold for at least $160. If I had set my reserve at $230 then you could say that I marked up the price, just because someone is willing to pay a higher price doesn't make me the bad guy, are you gonna tell me that you wouln't sell the game to someone willing to pay more than you paid for it, I don't think so. Who's to say that if BuyItNow would not have been used that the price may have gone even higher. Battlesphere original and Gold have both gone for more than $230 in previous auctions. I didn't neccessarily want to sell the game at all, I have gotten rid of all my Jaguar stuff and tried several times to just trade the game for other systems and or games, and could get basically no response. Everyone is always talking about how they want this game so bad, but when you try to trade it off nobody is interested, so I just decided to sell it, and go buy something else. I will end up buying Metal Slug games for Neo Geo, now tell me those games aren't marked up, but if you want one, then what are you gonna do.

I agree with Joecool on this one. If someone wants BS or BSG right now, there is no other place for them to get one, except to buy secondhand on a site like eBay. I wouldn't call them suckers - someone who wants the game will pay what they want for it, and if it goes over what they're willing to pay, they'll say "oh well" and wait for another opportunity. But in this case, to that buyer, it was worth $230.

As long as one can't buy it "direct from the manufacturer," this is the market that exists. If it upsets you Tbird, then make and sell your own. If you're unwilling or unable, I don't think you have a legitimate place to be complaining about what happens with BS & BSG on eBay.

Thunderbird...thanks for the actual price quote, I couldn't remember exactly what I bought it from you for, but I knew it was in the $150-175 range, so I went high with my price...

Brian R, you're absolutely correct, there is "nowhere to get one besides eBay right now" BUT, you could get one from the tbird et al, as they realize the demand for this game, however, cannot provide anymore to be distributed until they receive enough orders to justify another run...so as long as "suckers" are paying $230+ for the title to own immediately, they basically waste $70... I THINK THIS IS tbird complaint!

afterall, I receieved my copy of BSG 10 days after it was released...

In my opinion, once you buy a game you can do what the hell you want with it. If you want to try and sell it for a thousand dollars you have every right to and anyone who has anything to say about it is just talking. A game is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it regardless of how much you paid for it originally. Buyers have a choice and in most cases buyers will not buy things for more than they can get it for other places but in the case of the Jaguar and some of the gullible buyers in the market this is sometimes not the case.

You should not have to justify yourself for what you sell something for, if the price was too high then it would not have been bought. Apparently someone thought it was worth it.

It doesn't matter to me that someone would sell their BS at a later date and even make some money off of it. What really ticked us off was people who were buying BS and putting it up on ebay the day they received it for some ungodly markup simply because they wanted to make money off the folks on the waiting list that didn't get one from that batch.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, ScatoLOGIC is making a couple of dollars on each cart for charity and watching these clowns make 30-50 times as much money for doing nothing but unpack and pack a box.

There's nothing legally wrong with it, but it rubbed us the wrong way. Sort of like if you spent weeks picking out the right gift for someone special and then find out that they hocked it for cash.

I agree with you Thunderbird but I think you finally figured out how to stop that by skewing the scalpers auctions with copies for sale at lower prices. The only way to stop that kind of scalping is to have a bigger supply. The fact that someone was willing to pay 230$ for the game on eBay shows that there is still a significant demand for it - so you should probably make some more :) my 2 cents.

I hope you aren't referring to me as one of those people who is trying to cash in on selling this game the minute I got it and marking it up, because nothing could be further from the truth. I sold the game 2 months after I bought it originally, and would have been perfectly happy to accept what I reserved the game at: $160. As for the so called "suckers", as you guys seem to think someone is for buying the game for $230, their mode of thinking is that for all they know there may never be anymore Battlesphere Gold available, I always see T-Bird posting that they may produce more copies or they may not. There is no written in stone gurantee that it will ever be done, it's all due to the pricing and availablity of the materials necessary to make the games. If they become to expensive to make then there may not be anymore made. Whereas when there is a copy of the game on eBay or elsewhere, you are guaranteed that you can get one now, rather than hope you can get one new, only to find out you missed out on the waiting list or no more become available. So while there may be people out there that purposely overprice or markup product to make a buck taking advantage of a situation, I can say with complete honesty that I am not that kind of person, if anything, I probably shortchanged myself in this auction. Taking past auctions for Battlesphere games into account, had I not had a BuyItNow price at all, the price probably would have gone a little higher if not much higher than the $230 which it sold for.

I didn't say you were one of the ones, after all you DID keep it a couple of months. I was referring to someone (he knows who he is) who had auctions up for BS, even BEFORE his copies were delivered.

As far as not being able to get a copy... If there were never going to be any more I would say so.

BattleSphere™ is no longer being produced.

However, there will eventually be another run of BattleSphere Gold™ carts.

I trust you will let us all know, when we can leave deposits?
I remember looking longfully at a release list at Babbages early 94 where Atari had listed Space Raiders 2000 as coming, that never happened so Bless you for
BattleSphere Gold™.

Also Space Lords was another of my favorites, I held the high score on the machine at Disney's Polynesian resort for most of 1993.

Does one ever frantically search for a star base with no computer, engines, or photons, with the long range scanner hosed? Offcourse in the Atari 800 version I grew up on, this dilema was further hampered if you had dwindling energy, and no shields left, just wandering around hoping to see the blinky gold mothership? Its cold in space....

Mine was the most recent Battlesphere: Gold auction (my ebay id is topper456321) and the bidding ended at $127.50, and no one won. Maybe my timing is off?? Or maybe all the people willing to pay more than $160 have? I really need to sell it, does anyone think I could get $160 if I relist?
