More platforming fun with hammers - yes, it's time for Ice Climber!

Post a score and let's get this thing rolling! Start on Mountain 1.

Please post any tips you may have - best tip gets 1 bonus point. No continues - only games played from the beginning count! And please - no leeching! (I.e., don't stay in one place racking up points forever - keep moving upward!)

And if anyone has a link to the manual, please post it.

He may sound like Mario but he sure doesn't jump like him. Between the odd jump dynamic and the collision detection issues it becomes serious stress relief giving the mallet to all the seals and birds that get in the way.

Actually, the jump physics are pretty similar to Mario Bros. - not a lot of horizontal movement when you jump and difficult to jump onto platforms since, annoyingly, it is easy to bump your head but unless you get your feet well onto the platform you will fall down.

I don't really like them in either place.

I think Mario moves a lot more horizontally than the ice climber does. It seem that in IC you jump, get about half way out and then just stop. Anyways, no biggie. Just something different to get used to.

Here's a bit of a minor update:

And darkthur takes the lead! Anyone top that? I'll probably switch games later today, so you have a few hours left...

Wow! Nice score. :)

I wish I owned this game; it seems like a fun game that would reward practice. But I can't put in much time on emulators, so I only got a chance for a couple of games of this.

Thanks. It is a very fun game, albeit frustrating at times. I have never put as much time into it as I have just recently. It does get a bit easier to complete the bonus top parts of each board, eventually. But until you finally get used to it's oddities in control it's a real hair-puller.
My doctor told me today I, more than likely, have an ulcer. I'm sure this little game exacerbated that a bit this week. :P

And we're done! Hope you had fun trying to hammer your way to the top of the mountain!
