in any case, it's alot more expensive than it used to be, now that Telegames no longer stocks it...

Well, Scorched Earth is a game where each player (there can be 1-
Worms is basically the same thing. However, I haven't played it in over 3 years, but it was basically that. Several worms (2 or more, at least one player and one CPU), climb up on a hill and they have rockets (or some weapons... although I don't remember how many different weapons they can use) and they have to arch the curve of the munition in the air so that it lands correctly on the opponent and then they die.
Here's an image that I found on the net (looks like it belongs to one of our users, Just Claws)

Basically, the two worms (or more, I don't remember) launch weapons at eachother, and if they can kill the other one, then you win.
Ever played that QBASIC game that came with DOS 5.0, Bananas? It's like that...
I think Scorched Earth is a bit more fun, and would be MUCH easier to adapt, but worms is decent enough.
Here is Scorched Earth from back in the day (early 90s)

And here is Scorched Earth 3D,

I think that there is a lot more strategy to be used with Worms, then what you described
You can battle each other through the air yes, but there are so much strategies to play this game.
Go underground for shelter or for setting traps, make clever use of mines, how and/or where you place girders etc.
If you play this game with four human players, you'll not be surprised that one round can easily take up to more then one hour.
This is a very good game, which never grows old IMO.

Finding a Jag copy is exceedingly difficult and costly, (B&C lists copies for $130) but if you have a PS1 (or PS2 or PS3) you can pick up one of the Worms games for pretty cheap. Back in the day, I (foolishly) sold my Jag Worms for $67 (but I paid $38 for it, so at the time I was pleased with myself) and bought PS1 Worms Armageddon for like $5. Now, of course, I wish I'd have kept the Jag Worms. But eh...hindsight.
A really fun game, to be sure! And in my opinion, the gameplay in Armageddon is a lot better... more weapons, quicker pace, etc.
Cheers,

Well, I gave in and ordered the Jaguar version of Worms from Telegames UK for what amounted to $107 US. At the same time, I ordered a PC copy of Worms Armageddon for under $10 shipped. Sadly, I think the PC version is much better, so buying the Jaguar version probably wasn't the best purchase... but I guess it's still nice to have.

Of the two games, PC Armageddon is better but the Jag Worms is still a lot of fun. It's simpler and quicker to get into a game. Not so many weapons choices, but I tend to use the same few weapons over and over as it is.
Now that I am trying to buy the last 20-25 games to "complete" the Jag collection, I hope Go Atari comes back to eBay. They are a great, reputable company. I've bought a lot, and I do mean a lot, of Jag and Lynx (and even Game.com) games from them over the years. They were the first place I bought Atari stuff from after the Jag stopped being available locally, and I've won many auctions from them. But their website prices are just too high. I've made a price list for all the games I need, filling in prices from all the major Atari website vendors. There wasn't one game that Go Atari didn't get beat out by at least one other vendor. Usually, they were the highest priced. But their auctions were always reasonable.
So, if you're reading this Go Atari, either come back to eBay or lower your store prices!

Actually, I ended up buying a copy of Jag Worms myself, from Serblander. I wanted to help him out and I've decided to complete my Jag collection, so I'm fine with my purchase.

Hah, I too bought a lot of stuff from Peter Curry back in the day. But most of what I bought was like 7-8 years ago... I honestly haven't bought anything from him in at least 7 years.

Hellz yeah, I've bought hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of Jaguar items from GoAtari. First from the 800 number after the folding of Atari in the '90's and then from the GoAtari website and GoAtari auctions on evilbay. I paid FULL price many times from him (Pete Curry). I talked to him (or someone there) on the phone in the '90's and he seemed pleasent, but he can get in a bad mood quickly now though, as I received a few "short" emails. (not referring to length)
Regardless, I'm glad he is back from vacation, or his extended selling break and I would order from him again.

I hope he took that time off to fix his rotten attitude. 10 years ago his site was the first place I would look for a retail game but now I don't even care to look at what he has.
I was lucky like a lot of people to pick up a bunch of brand new games in the bargain bins of KBToys and Electronics Boutique. I think I payed $5 for T2K. Brand new Jags on the shelf were $30. I wish I had bought more.

Hahah... yeah, exactly. I completely agree.
I too actually got most of my initial stuff from the KB Toys and EB bargin bins. There was even another store that KB bought that liquidated everything and was selling CD games for $10-15 bucks, and cart games for $5!!!
But yeah, Go Atari was always the very first place I looked... if not Go Atari, then Telegames second.
Now, it's Song Byrd Productions...

This is the guy who did the 'make an offer' bit last year and when he didnt get inflated ebay prices he turned you down.
At one time GoAtari was good - his last stunt was the last straw for me. He can sell his bulk to Sweetard for all I care.
Someone should also let him know that prices are down.

It wasn't even Ebay prices he was looking for, but more like what he has posted on his site now which are at the absolute top of the scale. Sure, some of the titles he has are harder to find, but a lot of them are 2-3 times what other good on-line vendors sell them for. Heck, I can get many of the games directly from Telegames in the UK with their inflated shipping and handling for a lot less than he has some of the games listed for.

No one complains about his posted prices - however it was noted that he was tired of running his Jag biz and wanted to clean house so he put out the 'make your best offer' deal. Well, most folks offered at or slightly below current market price (he wanted to move his content right?) and were turned down.
I made offers for stuff at prices he was getting on eBay (which wasnt alot) and he replied back my offer was 'way too low'

It wasn't even that he didn't accept the offers I made. It was that he made a counter-offer and claimed all offers were good for 5 days. I sent an e-mail back saying I would accept with some conditions and he e-mailed back saying not everything in the offer was still available and he sent me an invoice for what he had left. He basically removed everything worth getting. He was also very short. The bottom line is that he used to be honest and now he is just an ass.
Here are the e-mails:
You can see the price I offered and then his counter-offer to the right of each item. I then sent him another e-mail (which I had to send more than once to elicit a response) and this was the result of that:
That resulted in the final two emails:
I suppose you can all judge for yourselves but I don't do business with someone after an exchange like this. I purchased many things from goatari but never again.
Most of what I made an offer for I have acquired and for a better price.

Pete,
This is a pretty large order and I would not think it unreasonable to
ask for free shipping on this bulk order. If you will match Songbird
Productions price of $30 on the S-Video cables and throw in free
shipping on the order I think we can call this a deal. If this sounds
good then bill it to the paypal account '********'.
Thanks,
