I remember being excited when I got my new copy of Syndicate.

Then I tried to play it. ... Probably just not my type of game.

But opening new games is always a joy. Been a while since I've done that with an Atari game.

Yeah, now that you got Syndicate (ugh) out of the way, there's nowhere to go but up! Then again, there's still FlipOut & Supercross 3D...

Syndicate is recognised as an absolutely classic game... then again I guess the translation to Jaguar didnt work very well, I have it and cant get on with it at all, then again Im lacking the overlay and manual. I think the biggest problem with games like this (and cannon fodder) however is that there's no mouse, and without one the control just dosnt feel right.

If the more talented among us can make optical rotary controllers for Tempest surely it might also be possible to make an adaptor for a mouse connector? so Syndicate could be played with a mouse the way that most people seem to prefer?

Just a thought?

Hi!

The software needs to be prepared for additional hardware:

Tempest2K is prepared for the use of a rotary controller (you have to activate it), as well as only one game is prepared for the VR-helmet or
BS supports analog-joysticks.

I think there was a mouse-prototype for the DSP-port of the Jaguar,
but i don't know if there was software published with support for it.

Regards
Matthias

I was told I couldnt do a joystick conversion either but I did it for Blue Lightning, I think a lot of people are ignoring the chance of fooling the system rather that trying to work with it. Its only a guess - I'm no program writer, now Im working on a mouse conversion - the basis of some tempest rotary controllers, only trial and error will tell if it will work in reverse.

I'm still working for Atari

Do you meen an analog joystick or digital? a digital joystick is identical to a D-pad so it isnt hard to do, a few games support analog sticks, atari had writen the specs even if they never made any controlers (anyone have an official proto?). Im not sure about blue lightning but it would make sence, it was done by the team who made... some other game, I forget if it was cybermorph/battlemorph or raiden, either way they I believe worked closely with Atari and it seems logical to include support for an analog stick in a flight game.
