Prequels/sequels/spinoffs: None.

Tips

Jess Ragan:

Quote

You're not going to be able to jump immediately after changing directions. Wait until your car pops a wheelie, then drops to the ground before you tap the jump button. Also, the height of your jump depends on whether you're holding up on the D-pad or not. If you just press the jump button, you'll leap over objects but remain on the same level. If you press up and jump, you'll attempt to jump to a higher level.

The game is poorly programmed and tends to forget where items are placed. If you're approaching one of the game's many, many cats, reverse direction and scroll it off the screen. Chances are that it'll be gone when you return. However, the cat will probably pop up somewhere else, so be careful!

Finally, you get bonus points if you can hit a cluster of cars with oil cans, then bump them all as they're stuck in a spinout.

Me:

grab 3 balloons and you will warp ahead a level or two and possibly get some kind of bonus. Also: you can jump over cats!

Arrgh! This game is so frickin' obnoxious!

Anyway, here's what you need to know about the game. You're not going to be able to jump immediately after changing directions.
Is any of this different from the coin-op?

I play this game and I know it isn't great - but, somehow, I have this irrational attraction to it; I can't help liking it. :)

EDIT:
Tip: grab 3 balloons and you will warp ahead a level or two and possibly get some kind of bonus. Also: you can jump over cats!

By far my best game.

EDIT II: By the way: after your game ends, wait for the attract mode to start, it will display your score.

There is a difference: Apparently, you're a guy who's on the run from the police in this one (in a magazine article I read, you've robbed a paint store and the paint is leaking, so you're trying to cover your tracks. Probably just a lame excuse for the gameplay.) In one intermission screen, it shows him smoking a cigarette(!)

In the coin-op version (and in the Famicom version of this game) after you've completed a race, it shows a cute girl giving you a peace sign and saying, 'Now, you have driven all the highway!'

I saw that and did a double-take! Makes me like the game even more...I might need to buy a copy now. :)

Er, um. :ponder:

Sorry; things have been a little crazy.

EDIT: Let's wrap this game up. ;) Hope you had fun playing an old coin-op "hit"!
