Hey there, I'm running Ubuntu on my old Pentium III laptop. Any good programs for newbies on Ubuntu linux? I.e. Batari Basic or just Basic?

I do all my Atari 2600 development on Linux. The stella emulator, dasm assembler, and batari basic will all work fine.

I believe there is a version of BASIC called FreeBasic that is designed with Linux in mind.

Pearl and Ruby are both excellent for programming on Linux. Ubuntu has Pearl and Ruby packages in the repositories (use Synaptic).
