I think that if Atari had redesigned the controller, made it easier for third party companies to make games for it, and had used a better CPU and UART, then it could have done better. It also would have helped if Atari had marketed the system properly. Atari claimed that the Jaguar was a true 64-bit system. However, the system had a 32-bit Motorola 68000 CPU, and both the CPU and GPU executed in a 32-bit instruction set.
