Hi Guys,

Reading Carl's post about his troubles with Skyhammer, finally pushed me over the edge & I finally decided to have another bash at it. :D

Well, I am still awful at the game & despite numerous attempts I still can't get off the first mission

Anyhoo, I noticed in the manual an overlay for the game & wondered if anyone has produced one? Or got one for sale. I blame the fact I keep getting the buttons mixed up as the reason why I can't get into the game! The fact is I use the same excuse for not being able to beat level 1 of AATE in BSG :D

Or maybe I should just admit I am shite at games & give up :?

Any info gratefully recieved - of course once u have finished laughing at my ineptitude :D

Later

At one time, there was someone who had produced keypad overlays for several Jaguar games that did not originally include overlays. This used to be his site:

http://home.earthlin...guar/jaguar.htm

Now it simply brings up a "Page not found" error from EarthLink. I don't know if he is still offering the overlays, but I just thought I'd share what I know.

You guys are obviously not familiar with the Web Archive project - in my opinion the next best thing to Google.

Take a look at http://web.archive.org

Those pages were in fact archived:

http://web.archive.o...guar/jaguar.htm

This has saved the day many a time, particularly with drivers or the odd ROM that's no longer there...

Guys,

While doing an exhaustive search for Brain Dead 13, I came across this:

http://www.1632-sale...mplates_96.html

This is a company called 16/32 Systems.
http://www.1632-sale...g.com/acatalog/

They list overlays for:

Air Cars, Atari Karts, Iron Soldier II, Missile Command 3D, Syndicate, T2K, Theme Park, Towers II, Virtual Missile Command and World Tour Racing.

The price is listed as 1.75 in Pounds, and I THINK $2.89 USD, but the graphic that shows instead of a '$' is a box, so I dunno.

Here's the text:
Jaguar Templates
It's true but some jaguar didn't come with templates, also you might get a second hand game with o template. So here is a collection of templates. I am looking to produce templates for all games in the near future so even second hand users can have the sometimes invaluable help these can give.

Kinda cool, huh?

I do have a small quantity of full color, laminated Skyhammer (and Worms) overlays on hand. I did not have them at the time I first produced Skyhammer carts, thus most people who own Skyhammer do not have one of these.

For $5, I will ship a pair of these overlays anywhere in the world via letter mail. Please send PayPal to songbird@atari.net , thanks.

And don't forget, there is a B&W overlay included in the Skyhammer manual. You have my permission to make a single photocopy of this page to produce a single overlay for your personal use.

Just curious, what is the description of the first mission you're on? The first 10-20 missions tend to be quite straightforward, until your company starts capturing new territories. Then the game can get nasty. ;)

Hi Carl,

I hope you got my email about DL etc. In the first mission I have to locate a capsule where the beacon is only working intermitently & I can't find it in area 13 & I can't see the beacon flashing on the map either. Just end up flying around searching & eventually running out of fuel.

Please enlighten me

Cheers

Carl,
So, does that mean if I were to purchase Skyhammer from your fine establishment, would I receive an overlay in the box? Or would I need to toss an extra fiver to ya? ( I don't own Worms... I'd love to, but it's a bit pricey.)

Cheers!

While supplies last, yes, if you order Skyhammer direct from Songbird and ask for the Skyhammer overlay, I will include it for free.

These can be tricky. Here's what you need to do:

1. Don't rely on the longe-range (key 5) or short range (bottom of view screen) maps at all. They won't help you.
2. Watch your crosshair -- when you get close to the target, a hollow circle will appear. This circle points to the direction of the target, so you would want the circle to be at the top of your crosshair to indicate you are flying towards it.
3. Fly a complete path through every road in the sector. If you still don't see the circle, then once you've flown through every path, try flying above the rooftop.

It should take you under 15 minutes to complete this mission. If you still have problems, post here again and maybe I or someone else will have some suggestions.

I have to admit, Skyhammer is one of my favorite Jaguar games. It's a bit tough, but I love the whole "take over parts of the city" concept. Makes you feel like you're part of a bigger adventure, especially when you see your friendly forces duking it out with the enemy. That's probably why I also enjoy AAtE mode in BattleSphere the most, too. ;)

Ditto. On both counts... ;)
Plus, if you ever do get around to seeing the other two cities, they get more elaborate and have different texture mapping and truly look and feel like different cities. This game just gets better as you go...everything definately improves and i sometimes wonder why there wasn't as much diversity in the enemies and locals in the first city. I guess they just wanted you to work for the good stuff. If you go in blasting away at everything and don't take your time and use stealth, you will never get far in this game. Patience IS the key...and frequent saves (including several DURING a mission-don't wait to finish a mission to save your game, and change "marts" frequently, even if it is not your own)

Hey Carl,

Didn't get as much play as I had hoped Sunday, but I finally started another mission & actually managed to complete it. This was only managed as I entered the zone & the tank I needed to destroy was right in front of me! The mission I was playing is in my saved game slot so I am going to have another bash at it after I have eaten.

I have re read the manual & it says the circle disappears when u are near the item. Well I can get the circle to disappear but still can't find the damn capsule :x

Progress is slow, but then I was never the quickest. At least I am not getting my amno as mixed up as I was!!

If you still have trouble finding the capsule when you believe you are close, then look on the rooftops and on top of the skyways (above-ground connectors between buildings). It should be in the area, and is usually a blue rectangular capsule about the size of the ammo capsules.
