I have just bought one new copy of Defender2000, but it's very difficult.
I didn 't remember that the original version was so difficult.

It is difficult also for you, or the Japanese games had made me go soft ? :P

Ciao (excuse me for my poor english :P )

My problem with Defender 2000 was that you moved too damn fast and there was no way to avoid incomming enemies. I literally smashed right into them. No fun to me.

yes, Tempest, like me. And we saw such a bad game handling also in Llamazap for the Falcon. It's from Llamasoft, too.
Most I like the "Plus" version. But every round takes about only 10
minutes and the game is over...

My greater problem with the 2000 version of Defender is that I am not able to distinguish the enemies from the background, while the original version is effectively too much fast. :x

Hey guys!

The radar screen is there for a reason! ;)

Really though.. the game has a TON of flash, and I really do love it, but you do have to play watching the radar the whole time... you just won't get anywhere otherwise...

Once you get the hang of watching the radar, you may find that this is a great game for "Zoning out"... much like Tempest 2000....

IMHO Tempest 2000 is better than Defender 2000. Tempest 2000 is very amusing for me, i think this is the best Jaguar game. :D

I've never considered Defender 2000 a proper Defender game, because there are robots who rescue falling Humanoids for you. What the hell is that?!

This aspect, paired with the fact that you can't see the ground and the sky at the same time, turned me off the game practically as soon as I got it back in '96.

Defender Plus, however, is astonishing and highly addictive! Check out how you can fly backwards (without reversing) if you keep the fire button held down. Also keep in mind that the Stargate has the same properties as in the Williams game of the same name, allowing you to warp ahead a few waves if you fly into it while carrying enough Humanoids.

Defender Plus is the game that SHOULD have been called Defender 2000. It's one of my favorite titles on the Jag.

Yak was under a hell of a lot of presure from Atari to make D2K into something it really should never have been (they wanted very big sprites, very fast action, etc), and I believe he wasnt exactly feeling his best for most of the time he was writing it, thus it isnt his best game ever, but it is still a great game and an important part of any Jaguar collection.
