How-dee!

I've been contemplating purchasing Breakout 2000 for a long time now. It's a hard one to find, especially on eBay, but there are a couple of sources.
Question is, is it worth $60 - $70?

I've read the reviews, but I was curious to hear opinions from you'se guys. :D

Thanks!

I haven't bought Breakout 2000 yet, so I am unable to give you a recommendation as to if it is worth the money or not. I would however recommend that you sign up for the email list with www.telegames.com. Every 2-3 months they offer email discounts on their games and they sell Breakout 2000 new. Twice this year they have given a $20 discount on any game over $20.

[b]I got the game for 40.00 and to me its worth every dollar. I like the game, even tho some have complained it to be a waste of time. To each his own i guess. :)
you are better off signing up with telegames mailing list to get those offers, They around Xmas, memorial day, valentiNes day, easter and all that crap and worthless holiday's :D

I'm in the "Breakout 2000 is a waste of time" camp. Unless you need it to complete your collection, blah. Terrible graphics and uninspiring gameplay.

Its a good game but it is not worth $70 in my opinion. I think it is probably worth between $30 and $50 dollars due to its rarity. Hint for cheaper prices - look on Ebay for Jaguar bundles that contain the game - if you buy the bundles and eBay the games you do not need you can get the games you really want in the bundle for cheap and sometimes even for free.

Hint - Hint - if you are selling stuff on eBay never bundle items - you will never get as much as you would if you sold them seperate. I know it is more work to sell stuff seperate but trust me, it is worth it.

Agreed. Breakout 2000 isn't good and it isn't bad. It's right in the middle.

Mcgrail, Thanks a bunch for the info! I had no idea about Telegames mailing list. I'm there...

I'm Back. :D

Most reviews I've read agree with most of you, that Breakout 2k isn't worth the $60 price tag. But I'd certainly pick it up for $40.
I'm a Breakout fan. I have the 8 bit cart, I have Blockbuster and Arkanoid for the ST, I have DX Ball 2 for the PC, etc.
So, y'know, sooner or later, B2K will be in my collection.

Thanks all!

About 1 year ago I bought a copy from Telegames for $50 plus shipping. I'm glad I did - maybe I'm in the minority with my opinion but B2K is easily one of my personal top 10 games for the Jaguar. I'd rate it about an 8 out of 10.

Personally I like B2K. If you're a fan of the old Breakout games you'll enjoy it. It's much more fun when playing with someone else, it adds a nice element. It's worth $50. :)

it's a decent game, nothing great but fun arcade style gameplay. it could have been a million times better with a smoother looking ball, slowdown free 2 player mode, and better powerups. also the classic mode is uncomplete and worthless. as it is i'd pay maybe $40 if you're a hardcore jag fan. if you're looking for a good game on any system, pick up a cheap ps1 or dreamcast game instead.

Ya just go to their website...

http://www.telegames.com/retail.htm

...and at the bottom, there's the following text...

"Join our mailing list to be automatically notified about online-only specials!
Just click the button below to enter your e-mail address."

Click on the button, and in theory, there ya go!

...Now, if only they'd hurry up and have a sale already! Its been like two days since I signed up. What's the hold up?! :D

Breakout is probably one of my more favorite games, I wouldn't pay $60 for any game though, I got it for $3.00, in the box, at the local second hand store. I also got Avs.P, Defender 2000, power drive rally, iron soldier 1 and 2, towers 2, among others. score. Then all I needed was a jag and jag cd.
