mcge0053
So, I am of the mindset that video games are best played with friends... and a few beers. But I am having trouble finding good 2-player games for my 2600, and I'm hoping you all can help. As I see it, there are three categories: 1) Head to Head (Combat) 2) Co-op (Worm War I) 3) Take Turns (Pac Man, and vast majority). I'd like to ignore category three entirely since it does not promote social gaming. SO, What are the best head-to-head and co-op games out there? fiddlepaddle
I'm sure you'll get a list of great two-player games, but you can also have lots of fun by getting two copies of any fun game and setting up two systems and two TVs.

Red 5
I like armor ambush better than combat. I also love Maze Craze for two players. There is one option where pressing the fire button puts up a fake wall. It makes the game really fun. I mentioned this before I think, but whenever my 6th grade best friend and I would have sleep overs, we would place this game until 2 or 3 am. Really brings back great memories of childhood every time I see the maze randomize on the screen. The dark room with only the glow of the TV lighting it and playing Atari until the sun came up... sigh...

mcge0053
After looking into all of your suggestions (thank you!), I've come up with a new type of 2-player game: The simultaneous score competition: Two players play at the same time and compete for a high-score, but do not affect the other player's game-play. Here's the list so far: 1) Head to head: Players directly battle each other for glory Demons to Diamonds Indy 500 Entombed Waizard of War Maze Craze Outlaw Medieval Mayhem/Warlords Armor Ambush Dodgem Mario Bros. Fall Down Sneak 'n Peak Super Challenge Baseball Bee Ball Ice Hockey Combat I & II 2) Co-op: Players work together to achieve a common goal Demons to Diamonds Entombed Wizard of War Mario Bros. Worm Wars 3) Simultaneous play: Players play essentially the same game simultaneously to see who can achieve the highest score. Game-play is not affected by the other player. Sea Battle (?) Human Cannonball Freeway Frogs and Fleas Fishing Derby Dragster Sky Diver Space War Okay, what else is out there in these categories??? I'm excited to see so many quality-tested two-player games! pinball22
Frogs and Flies is really not in category #3, since you're fighting for the same flies.

I wasn't sure where to put Sea Battle either. Are there any more good Co-op games out there?

accousticguitar
Wizard can be played head to head, but it's a prototype. I also hacked Combat into a game called Dogfight, but it's not available on cart either.
