Phew, damn man! I can probably get all of these sold for you pretty quick. As I said in the other thread, don't go by my price list, these are worth more to people. Normal prototypes for games like Buster Douglas may not be that interesting to most SMS collectors, so don't expect to nab NES rates for them. But I'm sure you can make out quite good with these. Respond to my PM. If you can, give me your email in PM because I can find a buyer for probably all of these. The EPROM is all the proof you need, too bad you don't have an SMS to test them on to see any game differences.

I believe these are review copies, since the EPROM's aren't socketed. Most likely all final versions.

Hmm. I was told by a few other people these are true prototypes. What exactly do you mean by socketed?

Cool, look forward to seeing them. Pretty sure that's what he has though, it seems clear to me. Regular demos used in kiosks and such would rarely be prototypes, and since these came from someone who worked at Sega of America originally they're likely all some form of prototype (though Zach told me he found a few in the lot that were regular demos).

CPUWIZ: Those are all protos from Sega. I don't think socketed/unsocketed ever mattered on Sega/NES stuff because I've seen all kinds. These are the same as the Clint Dyer ones I have, so they're real.

Everything socketed is possibly a WIP, hence a prototype. I've written SEGA and SNES games myself, none of them were ever soldered into the board during development.

Well, I have to side with Jason on this one, if there is one guy I can trust to learn about prototypes, it's Dream. There is no other. Zach, I should have some more idea when I get back later this evening. I may even give you a call to let you know what I've found out.

CPUWiz: It's just that I have handled over 400 of the things for NES alone, and from all sorts of different magazines/companies, etc. I've seen games sent out for review that were way different that were socketed, so it just depended on the company. I don't doubt you for one second, but in the proto world, Demo/Preview/Review should only be a state of the prototype, because in this case with these systems, they are definitely genuine....I've seen games with final labels almost that are way different, it's very bizarre, but that is what happens..

From the visible checksum, at least Super Racing, James Buster Douglas and Golden Axe are final build.
Generally over 80% of them are final builds. For some reason I got much more non-final builds from European sources than from US, I don't know why because I am sure that Europe would come later in the chain.

many of these were not finished products, so socketed, unsocketed must not matter

Yep, I had some unfinished, some with COMING SOON Sega only stuff. Like I said before....you just don't know until you play with them.....and this batch turned out to be a better than advertised one.
