Actually, these days, Priority Mail STARTS at $3.85 for 1 Pound and under. Plus, I did notice in the auction text...
(Shipping is cheaper for non-priority--just ask!)
All I know is, I've bought and sold a fair amount of stuff on eBay over the years, and I find it's never a good idea to gouge on shipping. I understand WHY they do it. It's money you don't have to share WITH eBay. That's why you'll see someone sell an item for a dollar, then charge something like $12 shipping. It's almost all profit that way. But they are, in essence, ripping off eBay. (Not like eBay really NEEDS another couple bucks, but still...)
Generally, I've noticed that people are more willing to bid higher when shipping costs are reasonable. Most people, however, won't balk at Priority Mail costs. I found it to be a much easier way to send. For one, you know exactly how much to charge a person (provided you know the weight). I've done the "actual shipping costs" scenario, and it takes extra time and effort.
eBay 101 concludes for the day. Quiz on Friday. Read chapters 17-22.
Next week, we talk about PayPal.
