I'm back! My Atari's finally set up again now that the repairs from Ike are done and my new office furniture is in place.

I probably won't get too many games in for a while as I still have more work to do on my study. I set up the computers and laser printer first, then the "game center" which contains my Atari, Sega Nomad, VIC 20 and Amiga CD 32. They're all hooked up to my C= 1084S via an S-Video switch box. Everything else that belongs in my study is still in boxes or piles in various places around my house. You can see a few of the boxes by the game center.

Just as a note about AVox+Kroko Cart: the combination should work; I can't think why it wouldn't. The only thing that *might* prevent it from working correctly is if you use the KC as a multicart, I can't remember exactly how all the code works. But if you use it as a single cart it should work fine.

I became the biggest fish there is! I'll post a pic later. Figured out most of the scoring though.

Level 1:
tiny white fish
1 point
advance at 5 points

Level 2:
tiny green fish
2 points
advance at 19 points
Octopus Appears

Level 3:
tiny yellow fish
4 points
advance at 55 points

Level 4:
tiny red fish
7 points
advance at 132 points

Level 5:
small yellow-green fish
10 points
advance at 262 points
Eel replaces Octopus

Level 6:
black fish
15 points
advance at 487 points

Level 7:
white fish
20 points
advance at 827 points
fish an enemies can move faster; sometimes

Level 8:
brown fish
25 points
advance at 1302 points

Level 9:
big pink fish
35 points
advance at 2037 points
Shark replaces Eel

Level 10:
big green fish
45 points
advance at 3070-3073 points

Level 11:
big grey fish
55 points
advance at 4445-4449 points

Level 12:
large red fish
65 points
advance at 6200-6206 points

Level 13:
huge red fish
80 points
no more advancement
ALL enemies are present!

As I play more games I can zero-in on the advancement scores. It is hard as there are no 1-point fish that appear anymore so it is trial and error by finding the low-end where the fish stays the same size and the high end where the fish gets bigger.

Sorry about the lack of updates lately. I've been trying to get a better handle on things and update at least a few times a week, but my timing never seems to work out right. Anyways, I took the time to scan the manual. Enjoy!

Even when used as a multicart, there is (almost) no difference to the original cart, once you have selected the game with the menu. The only difference is the 2600's RAM content at startup. It will not be random. But apart from that, everything should be absolutely identical to the original cart.

4,498.

The trouble is trying to figure out what the size edible fish is when you start getting so big. That's what got me. I tried measuring myself next to the fish I was going for...thinking I was the same size, I went for it.... :(

Having played endless hours of Shark! Shark! on the INTV definitely helped a bit. ;)

9,999. The score freezes at 9,999 but you get to keep playing. I just hung out in the seaweed and waited for a fish to come by. Once the score stopped, I just floated to the middle and patiently awaited my ultimate demise (which didn't take too long.)

Awesome teach! I should be able to get to it later today. ;)

I was able to zero in a little better on the advancement table (my previous post will be edited with the updated values).

My score so far is:
8,141
GoFish1BB_HSC_6_32.jpg

As I repeatly play this game it is very fun, but there is one aspect that detracts from it; the seaweed safehaven. It seems if a player is patient then you can just cherry pick your way to as many points as you want. Hang out in the seaweed and grab an etible fish near the bottom then back to the seaweed.

If a GoFish 2 were ever made I would keep virtually everything the same but add an enemy that roams the ocean depths. Maybe a crab that pinches you, or something. Then instead of the game being just fun, it would be fun and challenging IMO.

The only other change I would make is the way a "3" versus and "8" is displayed. It is very hard to tell them apart as they only differ by a single pixel. For the "8" it would be better to have the left side filled with a straight line.

I tried to mitigate this somewhat by preventing fish from coming out in the bottom row while you are in the seaweed. But I wanted to keep a safe spot, partly to compensate for the lack of pause.

I still have two copies of Go Fish! Extended sitting on a shelf...:ponder:

I spoke too soon about attaining 9,999 *bites tounge*. Hasn't happened yet, but a little closer.

So does your fish ever grow up to full size (where it would be able to eat all other fishes, except for sharks)?

Yes, once you are "full size" you can eat anything on the screen, except sharks, electric eels and jellyfish (they all make an appearance once you're full size.)

That would be Level 13 in my post above. Once you are the size of the biggest fish (Huge Red, as I called it) then there is no more advancement.

Cool game... I don't like waiting forever for an edible fish in the 'B' mode of the game!
