I like how the spinning Jag cube screen was
bypassed. It's kind of cheesy

I'm still waiting on my copy of Mad Bodies to arrive so I can't comment on anything either way.

This game is tough - it's hard to defeat even the first boss, especially when those red spike balls start popping up on the screen.
Last night after maybe 3 or 4 continues, I finally defeated the first boss (he kind of expands and fades like a ghost).
I played for a bit longer, until I saw the planets that look like a ringed Uranus (there's a joke in there somewheres).
I was tired and gave up at that point.
Maybe I will try again tonight to get to the second boss...

I hate the second boss! I want him dead!
Kill him
Kill him

Hi all,
I was searching around for a Mad Bodies gameplay video and found this: .
All fine and dandy, but when it got to the title screen and heard the tune, it reminded me of an old module I heard on the ST. I had a look around the internet and found it here: http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=vi...amp;query=38202.
Both sound very familiar to me but I'm not 100% sure. Can someone upload a bigger recording of the title tune so I can compare better? Or maybe the video was dubbed with that .mod and there's no sound on titles at all?
Thanks in advance for any help

Another mod fan. I'll try to look out for it and see I hear the same one.

Minus a few instrument channels that sounds exactly like the MB music I'd say...

I found another site that has the module: http://amp.dascene.net/detail.php?detail=m...es&view=360
Seems it was also included in Atari Karts.

Wow good ear. Just listened to them both and you pegged that pretty well.
Being a fan of mods I always find it funny when people identify the mods I use in like a movie or whatever have you.
Wonder how long it will be before Youtube starts restricting mods used in videos.

This is either very lame, very lazy or there's an innocent explanation (really hope it's the latter).
Lame would suggest taking someone else's work & using it in a commercial product. This is pretty far-fetched - I really can't see this being the case, especially considering 3DSSS' stance on piracy & illegal use of IP. You just don't rip scene stuff, especially if it's for commercial use. Nah, can't be that.
Lazy would suggest they took the mod from Atari Karts (it's listed as being used there but I've not seen Atari Karts to check it). But that's still © stuff, no? Anyone play Atari Karts & recognise the music from there? Still leaves a bad taste in the mouth especially the high moral ground 3DSSS take regarding piracy of any kind & the downloading/use of old atari roms - so taking music from them & using them in a commercial product wouldn't be something they'd do, surely? So this can't be the case either.
Innocent explaination... well, maybe they had permission to use the mod in their commercial release! I had a quick look but couldn't find anything other than a title screen picture for credits & it didn't credit music, just sfx.
Still, it's an odd one, even just recently Gorf has been very vocal on the subject of piracy, so what is he doing working with someone who was in such groups as Anarchy, Chryseis, Endless Piracy, Fusion, Hoodlum, Imphobia, Outlaws, Skid Row, Tristar and Red Sector Inc. (TRSI), Vicious & Bad Trip. I recognise some of those from cracktro compils on Amiga & ST. What's up with that?
But yea, that GGN has an amazing memory for a module, I give him that!

What are all those groups? Game crackers? Mod Trackers?
Anyway, curious, how established is mod music as media? It would seem to me a lot would be made by fans these days and not much commerical use, but I'm sure the early mods for the amiga, ST, and other platforms it was a pretty big deal.
A part of me WANTS to say "Common it's just a mod" but then someone did compile and work that like any media.
So if someone wanted to use a mod these days, they would at LEAST give them credit somewhere right? I mean that is the least they could do. Guess I am not up to date on how "borrowing" and mimicing is treated in the mod community.

I'm not sure who they all are, but I can confirm three of them are crack groups - I've seen intros on AnimalMine Compils.

Unless the author of any piece or code, art, music, whatever expressly states so, use of their stuff is not allowed... just because it's a scene release doesn't mean it becomes public domain or open source unless it comes with such permission.

This is a huge double standard on their part if they lifted that module from the scene after threatening my website! Sceners do not take kindly to their property being used for profit! See Timbalake stealing Acid Jazzed Evening.

We just don't know yet so it's probably best not to speculate further. And having said that I'm not sure it would cause that level of controversy but you can bet there would be some pretty upset people similar to when laromlab stole Atari ST chip music & made a CD. Different though because the crowd of upset people would be much larger considering the much larger user base of Amiga is/was & the fact that a lot of Amiga fans hate anything with an Atari badge on it, sad but true.

I beleive I wrote in my madtracker mod maker that title song if that is what you are refering to.
I can assure you, I did not copy it.....but it does have some similarity in the begining. I also did
all the sound effects. I am also very sure that Terance had a friend of his compose the rest of
the in game music. I've been amusician for over 30 years and am quite capable of composing
my own music.

I'm not questioning your ability to create music, I'm questioning who made that module Do you seriously intend to try to pass that mod off as your own work? It's the same music!
Gorf, you need to think very carefully before you answer that - it's not difficult to prove these things.
With your anti-piracy zero tolerance stance you might just have made a rod for your own back here. All your credibility in any piracy discussions will reduce to zero. I seriously thought you of all people would never stoop so low as to rip off someone else's work & pass it off as your own. Is that what you want us to believe?
Take the time to check what happened to Balmoral when he stole scene music & produced a commercial product with it. It wasn't pretty.
I'd also now like to find out who Terrence's friend is & some further details on the remaining music in the game. Offering that now will prevent the Spanish Inquisition from a lot of angry sceners.
Your call.

If the correct permissions can be obtained I'd be more than willing to invest some time extracting the module from the game in order for fair comparisons to be made.
On face values it does sound like the same instruments and patterns are in both tunes, just with the tempo and volume changed in MadBodies.
Of course, it would be a lot easier if the developers just offered the module freely.

I honestly don't have the game although it sounds interesting and hope that everyone enjoys their copy. But, those do seem like very serious accusations.
I am asking for everyone to please be respectful. Thank you.
