Hey all... sorry I missed the last contest - Gyruss is one of my favorites! :P Been busy here, but took some time to get at least SOME Galaxian in. Here's my first entry. Hopefully to be improved upon.

9,700 Another one I've not played for donkeys... think I played Galactic Chase as Galaxians was too hard but maybe I just needed some competition to make me try harder :)

But Atari 5200 has bad joysticks unless you use some other joystick for it.

No...I should have been more clear. 1st go - in this contest. Galaxian was one of the first 5200 games I got back in the day. Me and my brother would play it until the wee hours of the night. So, I'm a bit practiced at it. I could likely do better if not for the stinky 2600 sticks. :P I prefer the 5200 controllers. :D

I first tired to emulate this with MESS, but that emulator doesn't seem to work too well, it has got a lot of graphical glitches here. The score line on the bottom is invisible, your shot, until engages, is displayed much too high on screen, and you're unable to shoot some of the formation members unless in flight. Seems like there's a lot of graphical trickery going on in order to get the game as colorful as it is.

I think jetset has a better approach-- use the A5200 version which doesn't even launch missiles at you in default starting level. A800 version launches many missiles at a time as levels proceed.

Well thanks to slightly better tactics (mainly not getting killed so much) 15,040 :) Just checked me old score sheet and 22k is my pb. The 12 points are definitely available for anybody who puts the goes in over the next two weeks, even Gwobby :D :ponder:

I just connected a Atari 2600 Paddle to my Atari 5200 and played Galaxian. Galaxian is easier on Atari 5200 than Atari 800/XL/XE.
