OY Mopchop what's with your posts... I need to find me sunglasses  that's better. Great score, keep trying ;)

I'm seriously thinking I might be bumped out of the top 10 if a few more of you play this much more (atariksi, mapa, divya, kurt, a8isa1, not heard from DEteacher yet either, better hope fandal is busy coding too ;) ) ... maybe the season's not in the bag afterall :D

Like rising damp... 17,080

Perhaps, there should be a prize for getting to 16-bit score (>32767) since so many scores are bunched up within ten thousand range.

If anyone manages that I'll make them a gold medal; this game is seriously h-a-r-d :| Take it you're up to the posting at the last minute tactic  ;)

p.s. Mopchop if you got another 10 points (5000) there is an extra life

That's ok, don't play too much more now ;) I was checking out a load of stuff I downloaded of various AtariAge threads recently, one was that graphics demo / picture you did of a LionMan (curtain.xex) ... very good. Have you worked on any games for the A8?

Hmm, if it's mentioned here I have to ask, what's about the curtain.xex demo ? I always see it mentioned in context of colourful graphics etc. but when I tried it in emulator, it's just simple standard GTIA mode picture (16 shades of one colour) with changing the colour after some seconds. Plus it has some bugged curtain opening intro. I thought it's fault of the emu that it doesn't display it correctly, but on real ATARI it looks exactly the same.

That demo was taken from a huge 650MB CD application that sends the GTIA images, 11Khz audio, and code via the joystick port to Atari from PC's parallel port. It's supposed to show a 7-color sprite the size of the entire screen including overscan (i.e., the curtain) that moves showing a 16-color image underneath it. It's plays the lion's roar at various sampling rates after opening the curtain.

I wrote a game for PC not for A8. I wrote other stuff for A8 (nongames).

I just got 18010 on Galaxian. It got to 14500 w/o losing a man and then the roof caved in.

Looks like Poobah took steroids after he passed the drug test... you're unlikely to be tested if you just got tested.

Don't know what happened but after around 16,000, just kept getting killed just by moving around (maybe some spaceship was hiding just below me).

I can see the problem atariksi, too much space dust blocking your view :D Yes I had a few suspicious deaths too... not complaining though, great game. Fantastic scores guys. Looking forward to Bristles, this was always one of my favourites

Seriously!

I found the game morphed from a shoot the invaders thing to more of an inverse Kaboom sorta thing. I was focused on my ship, and steering a path through the curtain of bullets, until i had knocked out enough aliens that I could actually pick targets.

Because there is not dust on the screen if viewed from straight on, but when I took the picture it was from a side angle to avoid flash effects so the dust showed up. It wasn't the dust that caused me to lose a few men though. It was a UFO (mostly invisible).
