Important Note: This weeks competition is over and no further scores will be accepted.

You, "ROBIN HOOD", are in medieval England trying to right the injustice of the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. The Sheriff has overtaxed the poor peasants and hoarded their gold in his castle. He is also keeping the lovely MAID MARIAN against her will in his castle. Your goal is to save MAID MARIAN and steal the GOLD so you can return it to the peasants. You must cross the dangerous Sherwood Forrest where the Sheriff's henchmen lie in ambush. Then on to the castle gate where again you must fight your way into the castle. Be sure not to shoot your own Merry Men and watch out, they occasionally might mistake you for one of the henchmen - fighting with bows and arrows is dangerous!

Scoring Points in Robin Hood

  • Each henchmen is worth 2,000 points.
  • Saving MAID MARIAN is worth 20,000 points.
  • Stealing the Sheriff'S GOLD treasure is worth 20,000 points.
  • Successfully moving ROBIN through each screen is worth 8,000 points.

Hints and Tips
The Manual
As always, you really should read the manual. In case you don't have the manual, AtariAge has a typed copy available online. Unfortunately, the manual doesn't provide any specific hints, but it does explain what you're supposed to be doing, so I really suggest you read it.
vjames
Seems like it's best on the first screen to go to the right side about midway up. This way you don't end up shooting the wrong way and no one appears on top of you. Also when you've got to move left and right coupled with moving up and down it is helpful to point in the direction you want to shoot (if you can) and then move up or down.

Tough game!

182,000

I'm givin' up getting a higher score than that... The fact that Robin Hood cant walk up a simple set of stairs! LOL. Surely there were more perils back then like... finding safe drinking water or whatev. LOL!

Good luck, guys!

I need to read the instructions. Got inside the castle and wasn't able to really get anywhere.

98,000

Well, the instructions helped but even knowing what to do it's still tough. Climbing those stairs is a real task. It's a shame that Robin's ankles are so brittle. :P

Well, with only four submission so far, including my own, it could stand a bit more attention.

Stella is the 2600 emulator so I have to assume you're playing the 2600 version. Montezuma's Revenge is currently running in the 5200 HSC not 2600. So to post a score you'd have to be playing the 5200 version.

Hey Zero, if I can nominate a game for the HSC perhaps we could play the 2600 version of Montezuma's Revenge here in the near future.

As far as Robin Hood is going I just can't seem to get into the castle in the third round. The gate cycles open/closed too fast and I've had no luck scaling the walls so far.

EDIT:

210,000

Lost four lives in a row to that infernal gate. :x Guess it's time to focus on wall scaling.

Today was the first time that i played this game with the help of the manual. Bought this double ender on a local flea market in
1998 (boxed, but without the manual). This could be a great game with a litte fine-tuning of the controls...
