In Xbox, they currently have it so you can change the "skin" of characters but play the same game. How hard would it be to do similar with Coleco?
I.e. I was thinking there was never a Batman game for ColecoVision.. how hard would it be to change Mario to a "Dark Knight" , change Donkey Kong to a Joker, and change the Barrels and other characters into chattering teeth
Obviously beyond my capabilities.. but how exchangeable are character graphics in games?

I am not really a fan of hacks...
On the other hand, DK Jr shares a lot of code with DK, more less like Pac-Man and Ms Pac-Man. Meaning a port should be fairly easy. So Jr is strong candidate after DK is released.
In fact I was thinking about a poll to decide the next arcade port after the SGM/DK are released. I think it would work if I offer only games I am really interested on as options: Pengo, DK Jr, Dig-Dug, Rally-X, perhaps Xevious and Zaxxon. I will see what I am in the mood for once we get there.

I would love to see Rally-X. I played that all the time when I was a kid.

I know you didn't list it but I know that you would do a great job with an arcade like version of Galaga.

Actually I listed Galaga on another thread. Dig-Dug, Galaga and Xevious all share similar hardware, so once one is done, the others should be a bit easier. Galaga and Dig-Dug have the advantage of having simpler graphics, so I believe they could be scalled down to preserve the gameplay intact on the CV screen. much like Pac-Man Collection. However Dig-Dug should still be the easiest of the 3, as Galaga has 64 sprites on screen that need to be emulated somehow on the CV, in addition to the starfield, while Dig-Dug uses far fewer sprites and has a fixed playerfield. So I am inclined to select from Dig-Dug, Pengo and DK Jr (or perhaps Popeye) as my next port after DK is out.

While it would be great to have an improved version of Dig Dug to play on our CVs, I would prefer to see a game that was never previously available on the CV be ported... although I guess Dig Dug "kinda" falls into this category seeing as only the prototype is available. Anyway, I'm down for Pengo.

Sorry Yurkie. :_(

Took the words right out of my mouth, Jim.

Sorry Todd, I'd prefer Pengo as well. :)

If it's Dig Dug versus Pengo, I'll vote for Pengo.

Ok, I just created a new topic for which game I should port next. Let's keep this thread for DKA related discussion.

Just curious, Eduardo, will both the USA and JPN versions have their respective kill screens?
