You will find what Pauline says in the two hidden samples plus about the roar bug somewhere in this thread. In fact I have changed my MAME ROM so that I can now hear the correct sample when I play DK. :)

I can't seem to find anything. Can you provide me with the link?
I guess you know about the two hidden songs as well? I use them for the title screen, and game over screen. Why they chose not to use them, I have no idea. They're really nice tunes.

Donkey Kong Arcade does a pretty good job of reproducing the sound. I'm wondering how long it took them to get it right.
Donkey Kong Arcade Intellivision
That was supposed to say Donkey Kong Arcade Intellivision. Oops.

First of all let me say that I am a little suspicious of anything involving mr. David Harley. I don't know how he got those people to associate with him, but that isn't a good sign.
Secondly, there is something strange about the sound we hear in their video. Some of it seems to have been lifted right from the original CV version, while some of it just doesn't sound like it is from the GI PSG to me. Since the game isn't out yet, I would say it is possible they just got sound pieces from different sources and edited everything together. Until they show it publicly I am just not convinced.

Eduardo,

Everything is authentic. The jump sound and squeaky sneakers sounds are indeed more or less lifted from the original Coleco version. As you know, they're implemented in hardware on the arcade and cannot be duplicated by the Intellivision's PSG. The rest of the sounds, are of course, genuine. There is no extra hardware in the cartridge at all. This is all stock Intellivision capability.

The reason I associated myself with David Harley is because I did not know him. My next release will be published myself.

The opening title music and game over screens use songs included in the arcade's sound ROM but never utilized.

Carl,

There are 3 unused tunes. If it isn't in this thread then I posted about them in my old Wordpress page, which is no longer available. But hopefully some people here may remember the post....
But you know, I don't like the direction this conversation is taking, so I would appreciate if we can get back on topic: Donkey Kong Arcade, the ColecoVision game...

You're right, there is one unused melody which I used as a random alternative for the end of rivet sequence. I had almost forgotten about that!

What direction is the conversation taking? Anyway, I just wanted to chat a bit with someone else who took the time to disassemble DK as thoroughly as you obviously have.

I respect the work you've done, and can appreciate it as an art form. Good luck to you, and keep up the good work.

It appears to me that Carl was just mearly trying to clear something up that related to him, not trying to "start" anything or trouble. :) To my knowledge he may of just read this topic as he has been coming here since the announcement of his latest DK game. That is all i will say about that....

Im not sure if it has been discussed, but is anyone planning some kind of 'Jumpman Returns' version for the Colecovision? Now That would be cool!

That is pretty cool!!! It is amazing how close a Colecovision version looks like an Arcade version. ;-)

I am not really a fan of hacks...
On the other hand, DK Jr shares a lot of code with DK, more less like Pac-Man and Ms Pac-Man. Meaning a port should be fairly easy. So Jr is strong candidate after DK is released.
In fact I was thinking about a poll to decide the next arcade port after the SGM/DK are released. I think it would work if I offer only games I am really interested on as options: Pengo, DK Jr, Dig-Dug, Rally-X, perhaps Xevious and Zaxxon. I will see what I am in the mood for once we get there.

After DKA, let me see...
I'm in for those 3, Pengo, Dig-Dug and New Rally-X :-D
But of course also Arkanoid.

Please Dig Dug, the Atarisoft proto is a flickery train wreck.
The ColecoVision needs a PMC quality Dig Dug. I personally would love to see you pour your efforts in arcade ports than all the MSX and SG-1000 stuff. I mean rare or not, I don't care that much about it.

I agree, DK Jr. really deserves a better port than it got. I'd be in for one of those, in addition to Rally-X of those you listed. Well, maybe Zaxxon too.

FAIL. :P

EDIT: I would also love to see that Donkey Kong II hack availble in some form. I don't have any way to play it! From what I've heard, you need to have an original Donkey Kong arcade cabinet and buy an upgrade board to play it. I don't think it's available on MAME either. I think it would be amazing if you included it, Eduardo! It would add greater incentive for people to buy the game and SGM. As someone else had stated, Donkey Kong is available (for better or worse, gameplay wise) on many systems. If you included the hack, which not many people have had a chance to play, it would make the package MUCH more desirable. Just a thought...

Yes, actually Donkey Kong II is available for MAME - as of v.140, I think. It's called Donkey Kong II - Jumpman Returns...I've played it for hours and hours. It has eight screens - four old and four new. You play all eight and then it repeats -- only harder!!!
