kevincal
Check 'em out. For whatever reason, you have to add &fmt=18 to the end of the URL and hit enter for the videos to play smoothly. If you just click the HD button, it sharpens the picture but doesn't help the jerky framerate. &fmt=18 does the trick though. Doom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvIwlVQrqv4&fmt=18 Raiden http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwgqiityH7E&fmt=18 Zool 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utMsu443sII&fmt=
Mr Morden
You should label these CAM releases and then flag them as "Bad Angle, wrong aspect ratio" :-) I'll wait for a telesync or a DVDrip.
S1500
Nothin' but love man, but "high quality" ceases to be when it's a camcorder pointed in front of a TV. TV cards that have video capture(ie all of em) can be had dirt cheap from Hauppage. Sure, no digital TV(er, not yet), but great for vidcaps. Mr Morden
The picture quality was fine, it was the angle that made it nasty to view. HQ ceases to be when the YouTube encoder gets your videos
viMaster
Great job on the vids, kev.
kevincal
thanks. I know, the capture method isn't ideal.. I had to angle it like that to escape glare from my back window. I got Zool more head on, but it's plagued by crazy tv lines.
kevincal
Here's an example of how the &fmt=18 code smoothes out the animation over just clicking the HQ button. Check out the 24 second mark in each video, the part where the credits screen is rolling upwards onto the screen. Big difference eh? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwgqiityH7E&fmt=18 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwgqiityH7E (click the HQ button, and you'll see it makes no difference in regards to helping the jerkiness of the animation, whereas the &fmt=18 HQ code does, for whatever reason. )
etschuetz
Your vid of Raiden didn't seem to different from how the Genesis looked...even the sounds seemed similar. Still looks to be a worthy addition to my collection if I can get hold of it.
+LS650
I can't say I see much difference in framerate with or without that &fmt=18 code.
doctorclu
Once I got into the videos I kinda forgot about the angle. Let's see, Doom, just good clumsy fun. Made me want to go rushing in on a Doom game and "Damn the torpedos" I've have gotten so articulate at playing Doom, almost precise, that this looked very sloppy fun. Raiden, what I saw looked like Raiden. Zool.. man you rock at that game. Saw some hidden passages on the first level I've never seen before. And I came to realize, Imagitec really made some great games for the Jaguar. I mean Bubsy, Raiden, Zool, I REALLY want to find out more of their story someday and how they got so good programming the Jag.
kevincal
I can't say I see much difference in framerate with or without that &fmt=18 code. Maybe it's possible it's just me, but I definitely see a significant difference.

Ya, the angle isn't that bad... lol ya Doom, I thought I could breeze through the first several levels on NightMare, since I've done it before. But that was after some practice, I hadn't played Doom in months and I was rusty, and I got owned! The enemy AI on NightMare difficulty is very challenging to say the least... But also, I figured it makes for a more exciting video If I just go guns blazing crazy, running around. I usually play much more carefully too. But that takes time and I can only take videos that are 4:30 or shorter. For whatever reason, the camera won't let me upload videos any longer than that to my PC. But basically, I sort of tried to speedrun Jag Doom on Nightmare without practicing first.. OOPS! Raiden, again was rusty and played worse than I'm capable of. Zool, I played faster than I normally do, as with the rest of my Jag gameplay videos. But ya, I'm pretty good at it. True about Imagitec. They don't get enough credit. I've since uploaded a bunch more Jag videos, and I made it so the camera is pointing directly head on, so there's no more angle. Still get those stupid lines from the tv though.
