Timely contest.

I went to the launch party for the International Video Game Hall of Fame Museum in Ottumwa IA over the past weekend. Todd Rogers donated this plaque, containing his Dragster cartridge he used for his record breaking attempt.

The best piece of advice I can give is skip to 2nd gear as quick as possible off the start. Also make sure that your taps to left to shift are as quick as humanly possible.

4.54 Does not count, unfortunately.

Sadly it doesn't count. I must've been playing some hack because I cranked the hell out of the engine and it never blew. A little experimenting and I discovered it's impossible to blow the engine. So my further submitions will be using the correct rom where the motor blows out all too easy.

This score should replace my previously posted scores since they were all using that odd version. The rom file name for that apparent hack is : dragster_auto.bin so if you're using that one and are getting great scores and wondering how you did it, that's why.

Yep, the MD5 for the ROM you're using doesn't match anything I have; it certainly doesn't seem to be any of the official ROMs.

For anyone who might be interested, I've attached all the data from Season 6... including the spreadsheet that I used to keep track of all the scores, and the "source code" (a mix of BB Code and HTML) for each individual post. This was the first whole season where I typed up all the posts in a text editor rather than using the forum entry boxes (I started sometime in season 5). Note that I use Gnumeric to handle my spreadsheets, and all the posts are in Unix-style text files... so you might have trouble with file formats.
