Today I received both Atarimax Maxflash USB programmer and 8mbit cartridge.

Works great, I'm loving it.

Just a quick reminder, the contest to win a free 8mbit flash cartridge ends tomorrow night.

There are about 15 entries now so you still have a good chance. :-)

Hey Steve,

I've been banned from your forum today.

I did nothing there, as I visit your forum for the first time.

Why banned?

Not sure, maybe your IP address? There are some blocks banned from registering because they were a source of forum spam in the past. E-mail me your current IP address at classics@atarimax.com and I will make sure its unblocked.

I use the MaxIDE cart, that was (and may still be) available from AtariMax, with an IDE to CF adapter, and a CF full of Atari images in cart and disk format to achieve a Coleco/5200/INTV programmable Multicart type of solution - but it is a little hokey, difficult to set up, and hard to remember how to achieve should anything ever go wrong. The advantage, once done, is that you have a stand alone cart with a removable flash-ram type device that is programmed with as many carts or disk images as you want to load it up with. There are extensive threads here, and probably in the AtariMax forums, describing how to do this, although I am almost certain once you compare the two methods, you'll decide this way is far easier for your time, money and effort.

Hay Steve, Earl from Retrobits Podcast has just done a Podcast about your products, should check it out. Also can you tell me if this new software can be used for your 5200 and Coleco carts.

And what is the memory size of the 128 in 1 compared to the biger 8mbit cart.

Thanks :)

Hey I listened to his podcast over the weekend, it is a very good review. :-)

The 8-bit Maxflash Studio software looks very similar to the USB Cartridge software for the 5200 and ColecoVision carts, but they are separate applications. They look alike/work alike, so if you know how to use one it will be very easy to use the others, but don't read/write each others workbook formats.

The 128-in-1 carts fot the 5200 and ColecoVision have 32 mbit of flash, so thats roughly 4 8bit carts. You can actually store much more on the 8-bit version of the carts though, since the 8-bit Maxflash Studio application will pack in EXE files of any size. You are not limited to n-in-1 fixed slots like with the 5200 and ColecoVision carts, it depends completely on the size of the games you use.
