jeremysart
I opened it up and she's clean as a whistle. Can seem to figure out why the keys arent working. Is this a common problem, and is there a solution?
ApolloBoy
I opened it up and she's clean as a whistle. Can seem to figure out why the keys arent working. Is this a common problem, and is there a solution? The keyboard is a real common problem with the 1200XL. Try cleaning the key contacts and then perform this repair which should do the trick. My 1200XL also had a flaky keyboard and after doing this, it works perfectly now.
MEtalGuy66
Yep.. If it stopped working after a long period of non-use, then those are the cures.. The contacts on the mylar film look "perfect" but they are actually oxidized.. When cleaned properly, they should have a dark grey color, rather than a black color. If it just all of a sudden "quit" on you, then any number of things could be the problem..
jeremysart
Yes, it was a long period of no usage. Thanks for the tips! Gonna try this when I get home from work!
+Guitarman
Look in the restoration sticky thread here in the bit forum. There is a step by step for the keyboard refresh.
