It was bound to happen sooner or later, GBA emulation on the DSi and it looks pretty good too!!! You need a special flash cart (iPlayer) , which has a cpu on it
that was designed to play movies, but can also provide the boost needed to emu a GBA in software on the DSi.

I've been told by users here and at DP that the DSi retains all GBA hardware besides a cartridge slot. Why would you have to use a emulator?

It does retain all the hardware, so in theory you should be able to run GBA games without emulation, but Nintendo has not released any GBA games as DSI Ware. If they did it wouldn't take long for the homebrew community to reverse engineer the game to figure out how to run them in native mode, but until that happens (if it happens) it's likely this will be your best bet.

It seems to have a little slow down. I hope they keep working on that. I'm going to get one for myself... If they could make one that was a combo unit with DS game functions as well that would be awesome. One of the reasons I use a flash cart for my kids is so they don't loose their cartridges... it would be great to offer them movies, and GBA content as well... but I'm not keen on their taking the carts out and swapping between the two.. It hurt back enough when they were loosing $10 games... I don't want to buy $25 flash carts and $10 memory cards every other week.
