:-o WOW! Thank you, there's enough here to keep even the most ardent Jag fan occupied for the foreseable future.

Your commitment to both the community and the free exchange of information is inspiring.

You do realise most of this has been available for free and for ages too elsewhere right?

Really? I was under the impression that these files were only available in the Extremist Packs or via VIP access to JSII. I have neither so for me the majority of this material is completely new. (I had managed to find some sources, Tech docs, the Gamefile engine and some betas from a far less reputable site...)

Also as JSII is no longer publicly viewable this post means even a passerby or a budding programmer, who perhaps owned a Jag years ago and is simply reminiscing, can get access to pieces of Jag history and source examples. The more people that download and preserve these files the better!

Thanks again Curt.

Thanks again Curt.

They were available to ANYBODY on JS2 to download for a very long time, before it went back to being private, the VIP only thing is a total fantasy.

Meaning they're free for all once again with no post-prerequisite needed to get to them after first registering with a non-free email address.

I have no idea what you are getting, my JS2 account registered to a hotmail address. Jay simply asked for people to confirm them or change them to aviod people using multiple accounts (which it turned out was happening)

From the JSII register page:

PLEASE NOTE: You MUST register on these forums using an email other than Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail or other free email. If you sign up with any of these your account will not be validated and will simply be deleted. If you are unable to provide any other email, please contact the administrator at: jsii(at)jaguarsector.com.

There's no explanation anywhere on that page as to why he has the requirement, nor can people browse the forums prior to signup to figure that out themselves. They also can't browse the forums to see if they WANT to join or what's in store for them if they do.

Regardless, it explicitly states you need a non-free email address. Yes, Jay can bypass his own requirements for people but for someone new stumbling upon the site, that can be a very big turn off and if he refuses to accept your gmail or hotmail, you're SOL.

There was a notice up for about 2 months stating why he was making the changes that even guests could see.

Since the files seem to be no longer available on Curt's website, I'm creating a mirror (I hope he won't mind). I'll post the URL once the upload is done.
