After I saw the Activision prototype auction slip beyond my reach, I was confident that this gem I pulled from a very cheap lot is in fact a Megamania prototype.

Of course, I humbly request a ruling by the proto gods.
Verdict?

Yes, it looks like an Activision proto. It seems that the label is missing.

Any differences from the released version?

If so, you should try to dump it.

That is correct Wonder... when examining the cart closely, you can see the outline of where the label was before being peeled off... Damn fools probably thought the label was home-made and pulled it.

I didn't see any differences when playing the game, but when I get my hands on a method to dump my games, I will. Alas, all my protos sit undumped & unchecked.

Thank you for the expert opinions!

Could you please send me/post an auction link? (I am tracking proto prices)

I could possibly send you some equipment, depending on what and how many you have. My dumper in it's current state can dump up to 16K at a time, so if it is only a few, I could send it to you :)

I got this proto for an unbelievably ridiculous low fixed price, so it'll skew your price tracker horribly to include this prototype.

In regards to what protos I have that need dumped, I have two US Games protos, two Atari mid-programming carts - Maze Craze & Dodge Em ("Head On" says the cart), Frankenstein's Monster (w/ manual), M*A*S*H, and now Megamania. I don't have access to my Pac Man lab loaner at this time, but hopefully that is enough to convince someone to loan me a dumper.

You can run, but you can't hide. :P

P.S. This auction did not have a BIN on it, originally. ;)

Yeah, I figured it wouldn't take long to be found.
Not a bad deal, eh?

Did you notice any other lots I got for a single bid that didn't include pictures?
That's where the smiles are found, my friend.

Really? How can you tell?
If someone talked this seller into doing a BiN and failed to complete the purchase, I'm stoked to not only have won it but also for the cathartic "screw you, side dealer!" bonus!

I don't think I would have put it on my watch list, if it had a BIN. I saw that the moment it was listed, then forgot about it.

By 'mid-programming', do you mean they are WIPs? Are any of your carts noticeably different than the released versions? If you would like me to send you some equipment, feel free to drop me a PM, we'll work something out :)

Nice haul zeitshabba!

Here is "Head On," aka Dodge Em. Maze Craze is roughly the same, and I sold a Championship Soccer just like this to a certain proto collector. Given that they are dated, it makes me think they are WIPs instead of finished programs found in lab loaners. Of course, this is all guesswork/speculation by me...
