When creating a new post or editing an existing one, all of the line breaks disspear in the saved post and I end up with one big paragraph. It didn't do this when the new forum was first rolled out, but I noticed it a week (maybe longer) ago.

I can't say what all the permutations are, but it does this with the basic editor and after editing with the Full Editor. Sometimes when I edit a post, I see a bunch of BR tags, sometimes I don't.

I may have different versions of Chrome on my 2 machines causing the "sometimes does, sometimes doesn't effect".

I'm using version 3.0.195.27 and I am not seeing that problem.

Since the upgrade, the cursor at the beginning of the line is practically invisible. It is right on top of the border that surrounds the text box. It didn't used to be that way.

Funny, I noticed the cursor issue day one. It can be confusing.

So much for my theory of it being the two different machines causing the "sometimes does, sometimes doesn't".

I'll try to figure out more in detail when the problem occurs.I know for sure it happened to me today on this machine when replying to a thread on multiplexing joysticks on the 2600.(If this post has no line breaks, it happened again. :D)

This is a test post
using some version of Chrome in Windows XP.
I have inserted several newlines,
and this was typed using the quick reply
box at the bottom of the page.

Post has been edited using Full Editor.

If I could figure out the pattern,
I'd be happy to tell you. When I can
reliably reproduce it, I'll let you know.

It happened earlier when I posted a response to a post in "Paired Joysticks" this AM.

EDIT: but not when I posted this reply. Posted Image

Hmm...I may have some idea what's going on now. Maybe.

That last post was a fast reply and was the first post after opening the browser.

It looks like only the first post after opening a new instance of Chrome is corrupted.

Testing.

I've seen some other posts that appear to have been corrupted in the manner that I see happening to mine. I'll post a link to the next one I see.

I saw a sale thread that was all screwed up like mine was (over and over because I'm stupid and kept forgetting to switch browsers), but I failed to note where it was. I see several postings where what logically appear to have been paragraphs are all jammed together with no space between the last period of a paragraph and the first word of the next paragraph.

I saw one like that today and asked the poster about it. He didn't acknowledge the corruption and was using IE8 so I didn't link to that one.

I'll try hard to remember to put links or at least describe where they are the next time I see one.

Other tidbits I've noticed: sometimes when I reply to a post or edit a post, I see all of the markup tags. It's starting to seem like a script somewhere is failing, though I can't reproduce it faithfully yet. When that happens, there's pretty consistently a string of three br tags at the end of the existing post, XML'ish with the closing / inside the angle brackets.

Sometimes when I try to edit a post, it appears to go into edit mode then pops back to read mode again.

Sorry this is all so vague...

One other thing that may or may not be relevant: out of curiosity I hit Chrome's developer > Javascript console and it was showing a mismatched closing < script > tag on several pages.

I thought I could replicate the problem, but it doesn't happen on EVERY first reply/post after re-starting Chrome like I thought.

Google finally released Chrome Beta for OS X, so I'll install that and use it when I'm browsing the forum here to see if I can replicate any of these issues. I haven't looked to see what percentage of AtariAge visitors are using Chrome, but I imagine it's pretty small. I did just take a look at the bug database at Invision's site and I didn't see any reports of this behavior. That doesn't mean there isn't a problem, just that it's probably very scarce and may require just the right set of circumstances to trigger.

One thing I did yesterday was clear my cache thinking that maybe somehow, in some way I couldn't comprehend, that was causing the script to fail.

I'm using Chrome now. Two things they copied from Firefox, thankfully, are being able to hit Cmd-1, Cmd-2, Cmd-3, etc. to select tabs, as well as Cmd-Shift-T to re-open the last closed tab. I see the box at the top-right corner of the screen (with your user photo and the drop-down menu) doesn't render properly. I will have to take a look at that.
