El Destructo
Finally got around to posting some relatively high-quality footage of vintage Atari commercials: Atari 2600 - "Only Atari Makes The World's Most Popular Home Videogames" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eJe4tTMZOE Atari 2600 - Yar's Revenge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQHA7ygOKbw Atari 400 - Conversational French / Missile Command http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSYUVDD6upc Atari 800 - Stock Analysis / Space Invaders http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjRo7C4zGk4 Atari 400 - States and Capitals / Basketball http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pyNC07_pnA Atari "Prism" ad - Discover Atari http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2zrEw-wJa8 Source is a VHS recording of an over-the-air broadcast. These ads were shown during "Computers Are People Too," a TV special that aired in 1982. You die-hard Atari fans may remember seeing these on the BRiTiSH Atari 8-bit site (Remember that one?) where I originally posted them as blocky QuickTime movies in 1995 or so. Enjoy! +Random Terrain
Thanks for the higher quality videos. People better grab these commercials before they get yanked by YouTube.

Yeah, get 'em while they're hot. Here's my YouTube channel for anyone who wants to subscribe, comment, or see the videos in full 640x480 glory. I plan to post installments of the full "Computers Are People Too" TV special, eventually. It's too cheese-tastic not to share. Kurisu
Nice to be able to watch these in top quality! Thanks a ton! Funny.......I wish they were still making them like that....... You know, considering the skills all of us seem to have, there seems to me no reason why we could not as a fun project create top-quality commercials for homebrews or for our favourite classics. Rom Hunter
Thanks for sharing. I'll compare these with the ones already in our database: http://www.atarimania.com/list_videos_atari___2.html

tremoloman2006
any chance that the original material gets uploaded on rapidshare? I second that! I'd love to burn a DVD of an 80s show and dub these in as commercials where the breaks happen. I'd suggest mediafire.com since it is free and people don't need accounts to download lots of data. Dang; Great minds think alike! Not long ago, I had an idea for a commercial for Seawolf! That would indeed be a fun project!
Arjak
Sorry about the double post, but I just realized: AtariAge should have a commercial archive! That way, these classic pieces of advertising will not be lost and forgotten.

maiki
Any time I see those 2600 Pac-Man games I have to think about it. WHY on Earth the sprites have to flicker so horrible.... It's not only Pac-man, the same applies to Ms. Pac-Man and Jr. Pac-Man... probably all 3 running on similar kernel. I mean when there can be games like Alien and many Activion games that have no flicker; why this shit... Nobody forces the programmers to use HW sprites.. this is so cheap to alter the sprites.. and it sucks...

I LOVE all the 80's commercials and really wish people didn't remove them from the old shows.. Saturday morning was the best with all the cartoons and commercials..
