I can't say I have a favorite but the nes one seems okay and so does the master system although the controls are a bit too tight. II and III on nes is too hard and long but I think it's good for people who like those kinds of games.
Part II on the Dos wasn't very good and almost unplayable. The Genesis and Amiga/C64/St versions are good based on the graphics but I wouldn't know.
What are your favorite BTTF games?

Strange you ask about Back to the Future games because the other night I was randomly wondering what a good BTTF game would be like. Unfortunately, I think all designers of BTTF games have wondered the same thing and haven't come up with the right answer. I've never played a good BTTF game...

They could do a pretty cool hoverboard game on today's consoles.

I really want to like BttF II & III on the Genesis, but I cannot get Doc to rescue Clara on level one, so I have no idea how the rest of the game plays.
I did a write up for Back to the Future for the NES a while back and I stand by that evaluation.
Back to the Future NES
Are there any BttF games for the handheld systems?

I have the first NES one and the only time I played it was to make sure it worked. I think that's review enough.

They were pretty abysmal cash-ins, although I have to admit that I finished the first one on the NES when I was a kid.... I think.

Super Back to the Future II for the Super Famicom is the best one.

Why do people complain about the items in back to the future nes games not being closer to the actual game? I mean I never thought that really mattered. The basic idea is there. There are dozens of Nes and 8bit games that aren't refined like that.

I like the mini game that comes on the Universal Studios game for the gamecube. It's based on the ride and not the movie directly, but I enjoy playing it.

Oh crap, I forgot about the SFC version... I was only able to play that on an emulator, but if I remember correctly, it was actually pretty decent.. and colorful, too.

Because people want to continue the "magic" they felt from watching the movie and a video game should be interactive bliss capturing all the fun and excitement of the movie instead we get treated to such gems as the BTTF games, The wretched Indiana Jones games, Predator,Jaws etc..... It's almost like the developers never even saw the film they just slapped some mish-mash together and shipped it.

By people do you mean kids today playing nes games? or people looking back at them with a modern perspective?. Every 8-bit console and computer had licensed movie games that lacked detail, refinement and the exact movie feel as the movie games found in the arcades and 16 bit consoles and computers. It wasn't just a few ljn and acclaim games on the nes. I can understand the time period when those games were made and I like the way they don't follow the movie exactly how it is in a way. But there could be improvements here and there. Each to his own though.

I meant both kids and adults anticipating a great game when they are first released. I was actually happy with E.T. for the 2600 as well as Raiders of the Lost Ark they were crude to be sure but still managed to entertain. moving on to NES my friends and I anxiously awaited these games and were kicked squarely in the face by:
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Back to the Future
Rambo
Predator
Ghostbusters
Jaws
Raiders of the Lost Ark: Temple of Doom
Star Wars
Sadly those games are complete Rubbish and a massive waste of money for the consumer and a movie license for the game producer.
On the flip side here are some truly good efforts that are enjoyable to play:
A Nightmare on Elm St. for the PC
Land of the Dead for the XBox
Ghostbusters Sega Genesis and the new game on the current gen platforms.
Batman for the Genesis
Batman Returns for the SNES
And those are just a few good examples.

Ah I see then. It's good you liked those games, although I haven’t really played them just heard bad remarks on the net and good choice with the other ones. However I happen to disagree with you on other games being rubbish because each one of those games is challenging in a different way. Jaws for example have a similar style to the 1970's arcade instead of trying to follow the movie as it is. I don’t find it to be a poor game. The same could be said for many games you mentioned including Roger Rabbit. The other games may seem annoying but they are challenging and rewarding games, they weren't poorly made. Too many people find them hard to appreciate because the games either don't have password saves, are too long or have parts that need too much practice and or aren't as easy and better developed, in their opinion, as other ports for example on the Sega or Commodore/Amiga . Obviously without leaving out that they think it could have been made better. I guess that’s what makes it frustrating to some more or less than others. However too many 8-bit games have the same properties and you tend to look past them shortly after playing and so it’s completely a subjective matter when it comes down to whether a game is rubbish.
