Hints and Tips
The Manual
As always, you really should read the manual. In case you don't have a copy of it, AtariAge has a typed copy available online. Here are the hints it provides:
- Shift into low gear after crashing. It will take you less time to get back up to speed.
- Go flat out on straights. This is where you can make time.
- Stay in the centre on straights so you can easily pass to the left or right of other cars.
- Take the inside lane on curves whenever possible. If you have to pass, it's easier to shift from the inside lane to the outside lane than the other way around.
- Try to keep your car as straight as possible to avoid skids. Skids slow you down.
Also, we played this game before in the High Score Club, check it out.

Tip: Don't downshift. Learn how to take the curves without shifting into Lo and with minimal skidding by taking the inside of the curve when possible and rapidly tapping the controller.
Tip: When turning, pull back on the controller when moving it left or right to avoid accidentally shifting into Lo.
Tip: When you first see a car down the track, try to get in the same lane. It will either move out of your way or it won't. When the car starts getting close, if it doesn't move, then change to the other lane.
