FYI for silver members wanting to snag Gold only demo's or to play online....

"November 20 at 12:00pm ET and running until 12:00pm ET November 23, Xbox Live Gold will be free for all Silver members except in Europe."

The old XBox doesn't have different levels of Live service. With the XBox you either have an active Live account or you don't. I would say it is very unlikely that the free gold Live applies to the XBox. It won't hurt to try it out though.

I hope not, but you might be right with all the people saturating the network.

I wonder if this is just so people can try out the new gold only features (facebook, twitter etc). I found the new stuff kinda meh.

That's why Europe is different days. All at once would grind them to a hault

Gabriel and I played Soul Caliber IV online (a real time fighting game) and the lag was negligible, truly a sign of a kick ass network.

This is coming from from someone who know....,and is surprised. I can't imagine the cost involved especially with C.O.D.:M.W2 just released to pull this off!!! Truely dedicated to the "hardcore" gamer. The < $3 I bucks I spend per month is worth it, if no lag is the result!!

I was even able to get an impact guard off, which I normally find impossible to do online because even when the connection is good there's a bit of imperceptible lag which throws off the timing. So the connection was rockin' last night at the very least.

But is that all going through Microsoft's network / servers or the publisher's?

Things like 1 vs 100 will definitely be through XBOX Live.
