I just got a 4 port without the rf box and am wondering if my 5200 could be modified to use a regular rf and add a power jack to the console? I'm going to split the case and have a look later.

It's definitely possible. I personally am not a hardware guy but there are people here that are capable of performing the necessary mods. At one point I was talking with Longhorn Engineer here at AA about converting a 4 port of mine to use a regular power supply as well as adding an A/V mod. You might want to contact him. He does great work. He has a web site:

I would get a rf switch box first and make sure everything works. Who knows-- maybe you'll like it the way it is.

I have very basic soldering skills and i was able to pull off the 5200 power modification.
Its challenging if you have the basic soldering skills you should be ok. It would be best to
try and test the system first just so you know it works before hand. Good luck
